So hard to believe I learned all I needed from this channel I never thought I'd be driving manual from point A to B without in person help Since december 2021 to now been watching all your tutorials. I'm not perfect with it Still always paranoid about things like hurting the clutch but thanks for all the help. When my family is driving with me they really think I'm a pro lol

This was just what I needed. My garage has a bump right at the entrance because it’s slightly elevated and I could never figure out how to get in there gently

I personally don’t know anyone that would go over speed bumps that slowly, but good video for those who do.
@DriveManual2 жыл бұрын
theres all kinda speed bumps short ones you can roll over fast and tall ones that you really have to go over slow but its the same way , brake , clutch in, clutch to bit drive over
@xnopyt132 жыл бұрын
@@DriveManual very true, but I have yet to encounter one that basically requires me to stop at the bump and then start. I usually either brake, clutch in, and coast thru it or just go over it with a little bit of gas. But your method is helpful for new drivers.

@@xnopyt13 oh there so many steep one will smash the bottom of the civic here if you go too fast and if you have lowered car you need to go at an angle i try whenever to drive up the side where 2 wheels go through gap. maybe your cars are just high or you don't have tall speed bumps

@@DriveManual I’m in the us and have never encountered speed bumps that tall, I guess it’s more common in Canada?

I watch all your videos. I must say that anyone from Bangalore, India will be a pro in tackling speed bumps. There will be atleast 1 every 200 mts where I live.

About how high would you let the rpms go before you put it in second in a parking lot? I’ve heard a lot of “1st is only for coming off a stop” but if I try to go around any parking lot with speed bumps (or turns) then I’ll bog down the engine and probably start. However it feels wrong to go 15 mph in 1st gear between bumps

Hello! First of all, I want to thank you for all of your manual videos. You basically taught me how to drive stick shift. I have a question for you… What is your camera set up when you film your feet while driving? Thank you so much and keep doing what you’re doing!!!

Ashely thank you the cameras are gopros the one on the feet is called a "gopro hero session" but you can use any camera.Keep up the great work👍

This is a very good collection of videos. Out of curiosity, is there a reason you completely wait to release the clutch before adding gas, when upshifting after 1st gear? I know revs in some cars can dip slower than others, which makes it easier to do that. But in my car for example, I typically have to add a little bit of gas before bringing the clutch to bite point (esp shifting from 1st to 2nd), if I want a smooth shift.

Hi I made a video how to shift and I never add gas in any of my manual cars m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4rKq5aFipiIjrs

...or you can just use the car's forward momentum to take you over the bumps.
@DriveManual2 жыл бұрын
Some bumps are too tall for that you will bottom out the car. Going up hill you don't always have that forward momentum as well. There are all kinds of situations where you can't just roll the car over. What if your car is lowered ? I can't just roll this car imgur.com/a/wjf7Ytx over a speed bump, i have to drive it over at an angle. Saying just use forward momentum is the same as people who say "just use the handbrake" on hill starts.
@CameraIsMe Жыл бұрын
I have to agree with Jafari. 99.9% of the time, I just roll thru in gear. The only times I clutch in is if the bump is too tall, for some bumps on a hill, or if I'm in the wrong gear like if I'm in 3rd and have to slow down a lot to meet a bigger bump. But for the kinds of bumps you showed in the video, I'd not clutch in if I'm in the correct gear. That probably depends on the car. In a pontiac solstice, clutch is 99% required.
