87033 Birmingham New St - Wolverhampton Driver`s eye view

A cab ride on 87033 from Birmingham New St. - Wolverhampton filmed in 2000. The 87s are electric 25kv AC locos built in 1973/74 but replaced by Pendolinos from 2001. These locos had to be "driven" and required constant attention from the driver. They were built for the extension of the West Coast Main Line from Weaver Junction to Glasgow and worked the top expresses in their day, such as "The Royal Scot" between London Euston and Glasgow Central. There were originally 36 locos in the class, but only a few remain in presevation in the UK, though several have been exported and are still active in Bulgaria.
