My original fuel pump quit working, so I dropped the tank. Glad I did because it was all rusted on tank,pump ring and lines. I am going new with everything, I tried to look up fuel lines, but the want like$100 for them. I'm just going to cut the compression fittings off the new pump,flair the ends and run rubber fuel line. It only has like 10-13 pounds of pressure so it will be fine!!! I like your video, and I thought of this before I seen your video btw.

If you have a vortec motor or 95+ truck the fuel system is high pressure 30+ psi do not use rubber it will leak.
@kevinpeterson40986 жыл бұрын
Yep! I am driving a 1992 model, but if I did have a 1995 I would definitely go with fuel injection quality rubber fuel hose! Probably braided too! Thanks for the information!

the reason I liked your video and watched or well listend to most of it was due to the fact you took the time to show every detail of the pump, I was able to see what I would need to do to modify one with a stronger pump out of a 99 model truck to retrofit into a 89 Silverado, reason being I installed a 5.7 vortec and im using its computer and wire harness for the whole truck conversion and the pressures of the two pumps are very different between a tbi and a spider injection I think the tbi needed about 40psi where the vortecs required 55-60. thanks for the video. I hopefully wont even have to do this if I can just swap fuel tanks if it will fit on the Silverado being the tank id like to use comes out of a chevy tahoe
@traviscarr65366 жыл бұрын
I guess it all depends on how rusted your bolts, nuts are on your vehicle. I dropped the fuel tank on the ground on my 91 short bed Chevy K1500 in about 30 minutes. Two straps with a bolt in one and a nut to loosen on the other. 4 nuts on a brace supporting the tank and it was on the ground.

Wish I had that luxury! It's a Minnesota truck, so well salted and rusted.

Fuels pumps are cheap for the these trucks... Always buy a NEW pump, and a NEW fuel strainer. Work smarter, not harder. Nice vid Mike.

I did a bed off fuel pump replacement on an f250 a couple years ago.I raised the bed up enough to get 2 2x6 on either side,with pieces of 1 " pipe in between them.I then put some weight in the front of the bed,and rolled it back out of the way.

You Had A Lot Of Trust In A Used Pump. Especially With Idiots That Run The Tank Down To E Often & Never Change Fuel Filters. All That Work, I Would Just Get New Parts & It Will Last Another 10 Years.

If you watched the whole video i did put in a new pump in the end. Also the original pump lasted way more than 10 years.

What would happen if you connected the wires backwards to the sending unit? Does it reverse the full when empty and empty when full or might it cause the gauge to go down when the truck is on and up when it goes off? Some dude replaced my fuel pump and now it’s showing about 1/4 tank when it’s off and empty when it’s on.

HELPPPP.... Before I replaced the fuel pump on my 94 silverado c-1500 2wd 5.0 the gauge would go way past the full mark and it would run out as soon as it hit the red for reserve on gauge. Ok now I had to replace the fuel pump and now my gauge isn't working at all and my headlights will go to flashing at times. Any ideas?? Thanks for any help!! Just hitting for any help I can get. Have to do this on my 89 this weekend but I'm draining the tank because it's 4 year old gas. Is it easier to remove the tank than remove the box if the tank is empty?
@CCWP02515 жыл бұрын
It's much easier to lift the bed, or simply slide it back 2 feet to access the top of the tank. Tank straps are never fun to remove, and if the tank has any fuel in it whatsoever it will be way too heavy to drop it slowly. Plus the wiring connection for the fuel pump is harder to reach if you're dropping the tank. It is right there and accessible if you lift the bed.
@Joseph-iw7su6 жыл бұрын
I chose to drop the tank....wasn't that hard....BUT, let me first say this: ....Long story short, RESET your computer before doing any trouble shooting........I think I needlessly changed my pump.
@MikesRepairs866 жыл бұрын
The computer has nothing to do with the pump on his model, it's a straight forward system that runs through the oil pressure switch.

@@MikesRepairs86 can u explain that, I'm getting ready to change my fuel pump but I've also had an oil pressure problem
