It's all about contracts and agreements with the individual pianists. You need permission from them to include them... Sokolov, Zimerman and Schiff for example are all very reserved with the use of their recordings.

I know there isn't room for everyone, but I can't help feeling a little sad when these 'greatness' lists miss out very exciting, great performers. Kocsis? Cziffra? Michelangeli?

just an opinion, they're choices are also really good but I wanted to point that out just because they're pianist that seem better and that'd been really influencial in the 20th century, my statement's never been superior to no one elses so you don't have to consult just understand Pollini was one of the most important pianists of 20th and just passed away few days before this video was published, I would never say such a thing as this video is wrong or that I am the one that knows good pianists but just commenting a thing as if what I said was something bad (which was to talk about the importance of Pollini in this moment) was probably unnecessary@@brent3522

I saw Pollini play Beethoven's Appasionata at Carnegie Hall. He was great! I posted a video on my KZbin channel that explains Beethoven's massive increase his capacity to process variables between his Symphony #2 and #3. This is why the Waldstein Sonata and the Appasionata Sonata are such brilliant works. I'm working on a new video about what virtuoso development is necessary for a pianist to be able to "hammer" the descending octaves as Liszt directed at the end of his famous Hungarian Rhapsody #2. This is important information for any virtuoso piano student.
