We always point our cameras in a northerly direction. N/E, N/W or N. East and West have the rising and setting sun and it doesn't matter what time of the year it is, the sun always sweeps to the south(in the northern hemisphere). I like head high also. We used to put them at belt buckle level and got great pics, but once we put them head high, our pics doubled and even tripled. Great video.

camera direction is definitely an important one, and easily forgotten when in the field setting up a cam. sunrise and sunset can sure wreck some pictures. just as important, is to clear the cam's field of view of moving objects. a swinging branch or swaying grass can keep your cam taking pictures all day. and really important, before committing to buying a pricier cellular t-cam, is to walk your areas with your phone, checking the reception in your intended spots.

I agree with your tips.... especially avoiding east and west orientations. I'd rather have a half-dozen relatively cheap cameras than a couple of really nice ones, and I've had good success with StealthCam model STC-P12 and STC-P14 models which can be had in pairs for about $80. I take 3-picture bursts with 30 seconds between activations - a standard setting. Customized settings can be set, if desired. I have two SD cards per camera, so I can swap out cards when I visit each camera location. The trail cam is definitely one of the best tools in the hunter's toolbox.

Was interested, but then saw the date.. some good points. I've dropped the cheap trail cam idea, after Wildgame, lots of Primos, etc. Switched to Browning Strike Force and do 20 sec video with 5 sec in between events. Awesome clear videos and on 6 of the pink bunny lithium batteries. One of five camera's recorded over 1000 20 sec video's on one set of 6 bats. Found that rechargeable batteries do not last that long. The main complaint with these cheaper cams is they last a couple months past the one-year warranty.. then crap out. All too consistent to think it is not pre-programmed into the camera.

You need to be sure and purchase the IR (Infra-red or the "black flash or no flash" type of camera. The old style "flash" cameras used a lot of juice and batteries went fast. If they don't have to flash batteries last much longer.

HumbleHeart said what I was going to say too. This video is right on the money Mike, I was just today looking at Amazon,( here in Canada ) for a low cost TrailCam. so that I might start seeing what walks through my woods. I am not a hunter, but I do like guns, and shooting holes in paper targets and collecting . This has helped me to go ahead and order a camera. That Terra10 is not available here on Amazon.ca, but they do show it's 'little brother the Terra5. (I wonder what that one's like?) Well, I just might order one and see, unless somebody's got a better idea of what we should order. Thanks for this.

Make sure their aren't any branches or brush nearby causing false triggers. Don't know how many pictures I have gotten of branches swaying in the breeze. In the example given above, I would have broken the little branches off in the near field of view.
@smartcatcollarproject56993 жыл бұрын
Recent models can discriminate vegetation from a real animal, so less false positive, but it drains the batteries in a few days as the little computer inside is working everytime something moves ! So yes, better clean the vegetation at least a few meters in front of the camera. I'm still looking for a way to monitor a small pond in undergrowths, where I can't remove all bushes and aquatic vegetation close to the cam, and I don't want to come and replace 4 or 8 batteries every few days...

Nice cameras! I use cheap rechargeable batteries from ebay in mine and they work great. EBL is the brand name printed on them. The technology is still changing to a point where the pictures are sent directly to your phone. A buddy of mine was able to catch a camera thief when his was stolen because he got the picture on his phone. I also like the fact that I don't bump the deer when checking the camera. Great video! Thanks!

Where do you buy these trail cameras and do the bungee cords come with them?
@1017Bucky7 жыл бұрын
Personally I like CuddeBack cameras. They are more expensive than Wildgame, but way less than the most expensive digital trail cameras. I believe CuddeBack has been a leader in the innovation and development of these types of cameras over the years. Although their cameras are now made in China (I'm guessing they all are), it's a US company. I own several of their cameras and what little problems I have had in the past was quickly addressed to my satisfaction by the company. Check out their website to view their photo galleries - thousands of cool pictures.

The videos are numbered, but more importantly Im amazed at something, I get very few negative comments or haters on this channel from people like you, but when I do they all have one thing in common. Almost all of them have to edit their comments. So its like they try their hardest to bring someone else down, they read the comment and are like"no wait, I should say this instead lol. Now here's a tip for you, trying to bring someone down doesn't lift you up, doesn't work that way.
