📖 Our Story:
We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

I agree about reinforcement of the kitchen sink from below. We have lived in two houses with similar fireclay sinks in the kitchen. The fireclay sink is heavy to begin with. The metal brackets and screws would be adequate for a bathroom sink, but not for the kitchen. The metal brackets are thin and would bend under stress. The screw inserts could pull out from the wood. Both of our kitchen sinks had heavy wood beams supporting the bottom of the sink from below. I am glad they did. When you fill a large pot with water or fill the sink with water it gets very heavy! Once a year, we can pickles, and the very large canning kettle is filled in the kitchen sink and it weighs a ton.

I love the look of that clean, below the rim kitchen sink installation but I do worry about how sealed the edging is for your countertop. Hopefully, water will never penetrate that layered countertop material. Everything looks wonderful!! What beautiful choices you two have made!

vous êtes excessivement minutieux et patient! autant pour le carrelage(...) que pour le montage de votre équipement de cuisine! j'adore l'évier! je ne connaissais pas l'aération par le sol sous plaque cuisson! tous ces produits pour le traiement des murs salle de bain doivent couter une "blinde"! bintôt l'amenagement!!! kkkkooolll!

En fait le prix cumulé des produits pouur la salle de bain ne coûtent pas plus cher qu'un ensemble nappe d'imperméabilisation+carrelage. En revanche la main d’œuvre sera plus chère! 😉

Сначала меня смущала розовая ванная комната , но с матовыи серыми кранами смотрится шикарно. Еще один момент, между унитазом и стеной нет амортизируеющей прокладки, она компенсирует микролюфты и не дает портится керамике. Это совет на будущее. А раковину в кухне лучше укрепить дополнительно, эти крепежи не выдержат. Я бы уже привезла матрас и начала бы там жить, такой уютный дом получился.

That bathroom turned out beautifully! Does the Beeswax coating have to be reapplied periodically for maintenance? Also, how is the exposed plywood edge around the kitchen sink protected from water damage? I am planning a Kitchen remodel now and I think you have convinced me to go with Ikea...

Yes, 🐝 beewax should be applied periodically (every 6 months - 1 year), but it is a quick and easy job to do! The wood of the kitchen top is treated, but we will definitely think of some extra precautions to protect it 🫠

Great job, guys! And congratulations! Maybe I've missed something but I think the sink is undone in some way. Kitchens plywood top is not so resistant to water splashes and the sink doesn't cover the kitchens top from the sides. So in some time the plywood could exfoliate because of the water splashes. Or you have some tricks about it in your pocket? P.S. who's gonna test the shower though? 😅😅😅 Can't wait for the next episode 😊

The countertop edge around the sink needs some more protection, but it will be well sealed so no water can get into it! The shower hasbeen tested (not so successfully unfortunately, but this is for another video 😉)

Hi everyone! 10 days have passed since we published this video and we realized we did a big mistake!! 😱A coat of black soap should have been applied 24h after the last coat of plaster to make the plaster waterproof! We are now looking into solutions on how to fix it 🧐

Ciao ...sto guardando adesso il video come ogni domenica...credo che tu abbia inserito il lavello dalla parte sbagliata...cioè andava inserito da sopra il piano lavoro perché così hai lasciato scoperto il legno del piano lavoro attorno al lavello e con l'acqua che scorre si bagnera' continuamente si gonfiera' e poi marcira' il profilo attorno al lavello e dovrai cambiare tutto il piano

In realtà no: è un lavello sottopiano fatto apposta per essere montato sotto il livello del top 🫠 Il legno è trattato, ma sicuramente sarà un punto delicato da mantenere con qualche accortezza in più

Ho iniziato a seguirvi per caso ( tra l'altro ho già commentato ) Volevo dirvi che siete veramente dei ragazzi straordinari, attenti alla sostenibilità, un encomio al tuo compagno, vederlo lavorare e vedere quanta fatica, soprattutto fisica ha fatto è commovente ! Magnifique travail, bien fait en prenant de grandes précautions, mais quel résultat. "Je retire mon chapeau comme on dit chez nous" J'ai eu un grand plaisir de vous suivre dans cette aventure, ça fait plus de vingt ans que je suis en retraite, ai rénové plusieurs maisons pour mes enfants sans être du métier, maintenant les douleurs se font sentir, alors je continue à travers vos vidéos. Farei tre cose, due differenti e una aggiuntiva. Primo il piano di lavoro lo prenderei più profondo perché così potrebbe sporgersi sopra i cassettini e così diminuire la possibilità di sporcare i fianchi e frontali dei cassettini. Secondo, il lavandino (in cucina) lo poserei sopra il piano di lavoro perché prevenire al acqua e altri liquidi di inumidire il piano dove era stato tagliato. E per finire il terzo, installerei un vetro o un pannello semi trasparente tra la doccia e il lavandino. E queste sono solo osservazioni. Ma nel complesso tutto sommato è un gran lavoro e fatto bene. 👍
