A year and a half worth of painstaking work dwindled down and compressed into mere minutes. It barely scratches the surface of the sheer magnitude this project entailed. The challenges, the mistakes, the tears, the changed plans, the stress and worry, but also the laughs, the lessons learned, the skills obtained and of course the satisfaction of finishing something so daunting..
We started renovating this home with 2 pairs of rose colored glasses, a tight budget, a scant collection of worn out tools, and a will strong enough to get us through the toughest times. Fear and worry were unwelcome but frequent guests throughout this project, but by the grace of God, one of us was always in a good enough head space to be able to see past the scary times and get the other back on track.
We're happy to have this project behind us and to be moving on to something that seems little more manageable!

Marriage is not 50/50. At times it is but most of the time it can be 60/40 or 20/80 or 70/30. It’s how you deal with it. Always tell each other you love them. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Remember the good times and learn from the bad. I pray you have many more years ahead of you. I lost my best friend and husband of 51 years recently. It’s so hard to go on without him. I miss him every minute. We had more good days than bad and I wish we still had time. Like I said we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow

I'm so glad you kept the metal kitchen cabinets!!!! I have my great grandma's free standing metal pantry. After several semi successful tries myself ... I sent it to a car paint place. They dipped the entire thing and it went right down to the steel. Then they used several coats of car paint on it. It's an absolute thing of beauty!!!!!

My grandfather designed kitchens and these metal cabinets were considered ultra modern. Sure wish we still had ours now. Powdercoat finish would have kept them beautiful for another generation or two to love.

It is so nice! I love that you guys kept the original kitchen cabinets and sink. It all turned out great!

We did keep the cabinets but the sink was not salvageable, unfortunately. The previous owner had drilled holes in it where holes should not be. We contacted a resurfacing company to see if they could restore it but they didn’t recommend we did that. We even scoured the landfill/dump, Craigslist and marketplace for over a year to find a replica… with no luck. We ended up having to buy an acrylic replica. Definitely not as heavy duty, but it was the best we could do!

Whoa, those were the most fried shingles ever!! When you were applying the caulk with your finger following the caulk tip...really neat, I have never seen anyone do that before. The bucket stilts were clever too! The floors are amazing. Stunning transformation you guys did on that whole house. I'm blown away.

The shingles had to be defective! We’ve never seen any that bad either! Yes, that caulk trick is the best! If you wrap a baby wipe around your finger it’s even easier and cleaner! Haha oh the bucket stilts! Ted only went down on them twice- if you count the time shown in this video! 😂 Honestly the floors were probably one of the most rewarding projects we did! I love what you did here! My husband and I just closed on a home built in 1900, two story brick that is beyond rundown. He is 74 and I am 60. This is our retirement project. My wife and I laughed when we read your comment. We were both 70 when we started building our retirement home in the mountains. Have done most of the work ourselves with help from our retired carpenter neighbor. Two stories over our garage 1400 sq ft each level. Literally from digging the foundation, pouring cement, framing, roofing we did it all. Almost two years and we are not painting the interior. Hope to be have our C/O in another month or two. Grand kids love it!

We try to respond to every comment while we still can! 😊We are content with the amount of people who are watching us! The blessing of being able to plant little mustard seeds to thousands of people we don’t even know really keeps us going. We struggle at times with wanting to keep creating this content…. It’s so much work and not much monetary reward. But if someone is saved or started on the right path because of one of our videos…. That’s worth more than anything money can buy right?? My wife and I are retired and spend most of our time babysitting our grandchildren, lol. I retired as the Prison Warden of the Attica Correctional Facility after close to 37 years of Service. I started my career as a prison guard and worked my way up the ranks. God has protected me in many stressful situations and I’ll pray that He protects you and your family through your journey. So glad you did not trash the metal cabinetry in the kitchen. I was afraid it was going straight to the landfill. I worked on a home from the 1900s for nine months and refinished the metal cabinetry with a galvanized polymer paint. Yes, it was time-consuming, but the results were incredible.
