Just got the latest Blueretro adapters for the PS2. I believe they will be releasing an Xbox one soon.

This is a nice rundown of the options. I would be interested to know more about how adapters compare for consoles where these three primary options overlap. For example, for PS1/2 you can get a Blue Retro, 8BitDo, and Brook Wingman options. Of which, I already own the Wingman PS2, but would be curious to find out how it compares to the other options. On another note, BRX (Blue Retro for original Xbox) just shipped. I'm hoping it performs better than the Wingman XB2. Every once in a great while XB2 will lock up, requiring you to unplug the adapter from the console, back in, then reconnect the controller to get it working again. Let me know your thoughts or if you'd be willing to do some peformance comparisons.

Thanks! I’ve been really enjoying the 8bitdo experience, though the downside for some people is that to get the most of it you need one of their controllers that has the ability to use their app. I could do a more detailed comparison of them one day down the road for sure.

The Nintendo WiiU Pro Controller was my go-to for emulation and Bluetooth dongles until 8Bitdo released 2.4G controllers in the original form factor for NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, + PCEngine. The Brook Wingman adapters for PlayStation are critical since DualShocks 1-3 are garbage. DS4 & 5 still lack a worthy D-Pad. The Brook Wingman Adapter for XBox and XBox360 is hella nice since those original controllers were refined into the XBox Series controller and finally have a proper D-Pad. Nintendo really was on to something with the WiiU Pro Controller layout but then opted for the XBox layout with the Switch. Congrats on finding your zen and controller satisfaction.

Thanks! It took a while, but I did eventually get my hands on a 1st Party Wii U Pro controller. It is a tad strange compared to its same gen competitors, but I do like it. You have the same opinions about the PS and Xbox controllers as some of my GameStop chums had, brought back some good memories there.

I have the older brooks ps2 adapter. The one that had a plug in cable and a huge block. I paired with a ps4 controller. It seemed to work ok at first. But during game play what happens “a lot”. Is you will get that message “please plug in a controller in slot 1” message. I reached out to the company. And they kept sending me links to firmware updates. Which only helped temporarily. Anyway gonna dust off and repair my ps2. But I think I’ll get an 8bitdo adapter this time around. 😜

I love the 8bitdo stuff. The Brook USB adapters I got have worked so far, but their firmware processes definitely came across as confusing. Especially when compared to 8bitdo, which was sooooooo easy. Good luck with the repairs!

Just occurred to me, you may want to look up the Retro-bit Tribute 64. They have wired and wireless versions, I've tried both and really like them. Similar form factor as the Hori 64.

Is anything actually better than the original peripherals??
@Pasixable
@Pasixable 5 ай бұрын
@@niallmclarney No. You can never get something as accurate as a good condition original N64 stick. You can look up "Ultra N64 Controller Review" and take a look at that where you can see all the sticks of different third party controllers and how well they perform.

@@RetroBoost Oh yeah I did plenty of research and what is important to me is getting the best stick and controller overall and feel with the Hori I can the best of both worlds.

DarthCloud (creator of BlueRetro) now has the original Xbox Dongle coming. I preordered one. Brook and BlueRetro are the best products on the market, I would even say surpassing 8BitDo (which are also good). They are the Big 3. Anything else is a waste of money.

@@Jaxxon123 that’s awesome, I’ll very likely be getting it, love the Blue Retro OS.

Do you have a modded Wii U would the 8 bit do pro 2 connect to the console using bloopair
@RetroBoost

I do not have a modded WiiU, I use a WiiU Pro Controller generally when I do anything my WiiU. Never heard of bloopair before, will have to look that one up.

@@Adam-ru3fi I have! Not the Wii one specifically, but on the GCN and the PS2. Blue Retro is great, you could also lean into a mix of blue retro adapters to accomplish the whole “one controller for all your stuff” vision.

The Brook adapter on OG Xbox sucks. I tried it with a Series X controller and the analog stick acceleration curve was maxed out and made aiming unplayable. It also disconnected constantly. Both of these issues persisted even after updating to latest firmware, and others have had similar issues. Returned it and I preordered the Blue Retro Adapter instead.

@@MrAdam802 I’ll probably end up with the blue retro one as well, I love their OS for customizing, I found the Brook one to be kinda confusing. It was a journey itself just to identify which ones were definitely for which series of consoles. I did not have any issues with the controller I’ve been using for it regarding the dead zone or acceleration curves though.

Didn't know about the blue retro adapters coming out. Will be looking forward to them. The brook adapter was disappointing. I was hoping for using it with my xbox one controller but it just keeps disconnecting. I didn't have the issue with acceleration but the dead zones are definitely not perfect. I ended up using it with my dualshock controller. With it, the connection is stable at least. Anyway, I hope blue retro adapters are quality ones. Never tried them before

@ I got the Blue Retro and really like it. Works great and its a nice small size. I think there will be a 2nd batch available to order soon.

@MrAdam802 That's awesome! It's really nice to know that there's a good solution for playing wirelessly with modern controllers on og xbox. Because unlike the ps2 and gamecube, which had different wireless adapters. Xbox only had brook wingman. And I actually have brook wingman adapter for PS2 and it works flawlessly with dualshock 3 on it. So I was really surprised at first when I experienced issues with XB2 adapter. I thought that I was unlucky with having a faulty adapter
