@@bland9876 It is a huge deal! Well yes and no. My couch is 10 foot from the TV. My entrance to the living room reaches the couch first. All my media stuff are on the couch side table. So you're telling me I should have to walk past my couch and to the TV so I can press the on button and then return back to my couch? Well luckily I don't have to do this anyways since I keep my Switch Pro controller to turn it on for me so I can avoid all of that. It's not a matter of laziness, it's a matter of inconvenience. Most modern day controllers have wake up features quite literally so we won't have to walk up to the console to turn it on. So don't be a smartass.

I just got mine Wednesday, I absolutely it. Great D Pad from 8bitdo as always, textured grip, paddles/back buttons, and a mode switch make this the best controller 8bitdo has ever made. No more remembering which button combination I need to press for which system I want to connect the controller to. This controller is low key 🔥

Just got mine! Can't wait to try it out. I got the SN30 pro+ last week and ran through AM2R to test it. It plays GREAT over bluetooth, and I'm a stickler for input latency. I can't wait to test out this new one! Though I have no idea what I'd use the new buttons for that wouldn't be considered cheating

It will, I've done it myself, the pro2 comes with the proper slots for 3-peg buttons, but it will work with after market buttons (2-peg) as well.

A bit of a correction. There is more latency connecting wired to the Switch than there is over Bluetooth. The lowest latency is handheld with the joy-con connected directly to the system, but there's something about the throughput connecting to USB, with everything going through the USB-C port, power, audio/video, and the controls, it ends up lagging behind wireless connection.

important - the controller can in fact do motion on the pc unlike what you're saying here (judging by the plus 1 which also could) - thing is, you'd need to connect it using switch mode, which also means you'd need steam for games to read it (you need steam to register motion anyway so that doesn't matter) but as it is read like a switch Procon, steam will treat it as such and let you configure the gyro. at least I think it will, although they might need to release a software update for steam as they do for any third party controller, but not only am I certain they will because they always do those, but I think it's similar enough to the pro 1 to be natively supported as that one already is, I've checked.

(Regarding always better to be wired for latency), Switch (and PS4) can actually poll faster via Bluetooth, if the implementation is done correctly. Look up ShmupJunkie's controller shootout testing he's done. JoyCons wireless are faster than any wired solution. As for this controller, I've tried and returned most of the the 8BitDo controllers outside of the M30 (hopefully this one is better). The D-Pads have historically been terrible for errant diagonals, even on supposed fixed models. Play shmups or games that require fast left right movements and the controller can be brutal.

Yes, the notion that wired has lower latency than BT is often wrong, especially nowadays with USB ports. That’s also why a BT controller using no dongle is usually faster than using a 2.4g controller with a USB dongle.

Analog Stick drift has been a hot issue lately. That programmable dead zone could be a real boon. Also, love back buttons on controllers.

@Tano Yes, I agree with you. By all means...if it's under warranty, get it replaced. If you can find a good shop or genuine sensor, repair it. I know the dead zone is not meant to fix drift, but it doesn't stop it from being a Life Hack that could potentially extend the life of a controller if your only other option is trash it and buy another.

Awesome review! Kind of frustrating that the motion gyrometer doesn't work on the PC. I wonder why? Do Xinput and Directinput API's or something not allow it? It seems weird that they'd only restrict it to Switch mode.

Picking one of these up after my Pro Controller started drifting really bad. I'm done with official Nintendo controllers for now, all of the official Nintendo controllers I've had started to drift. The Joy-Cons at least can be repaired without soldering but the same can't be said for the Pro Controller.

Have you tried using the Switch’s calibration tool to test the stick sensitivity? I found that with the Pro+ it hit maximum sensitivity at about 50% tilt. That was never an issue on PC with that controller.

For iOS compatibility did you try the macOS mode? I use the Pro+ in that mode (A+start iirc) and it works flawlessly. Shows up in iOS as a DualShock 4 and everything is mapped correctly out of the box including motion controls.

I have the xbox varient that is wired. I have to say the 8bitdo feels better than even the xbox controller. I had to get a new controller as my old one had gone bad. The right stick started suffering from stick drift after 3 years and it wouldn't stop after replacing the stick. Board had gone bad. Hopefully this one will last just as long if not longer.

I wish they had listened to more feedback from users that bought these for their retro adapters. It's become a fancy paper weight for me because remapping 'all' buttons means start and select, too. MacOS Mode (at least on iOS) has inport lag. But, if you connect 8BitDo Pro 2 to iOS in Xinput Mode. It has no inport lag. I will edit this comment if 8BitDo release a firmware update to fix MacOS Mode Inport Lag.
