I have the m1 Mac min 8 gig. I do video work and it’s so solid. I bought my wife the m1 MacBook Air gold for her remote work over Christmas and i can see how she’s using it how much better it was compared to her 12 inch 2017 MacBook which was starting to show it’s age. Of course she’s not as geeked about it as me and dont even realize how much better it is. I look over her shoulder and can see how well it works when she has 20 chrome tabs running , excel, word , zoom, Microsoft teams , slack and watching multiple, KZbin videos and i can see her battery isn’t even breaking a sweat and the laptop isn’t getting super hot like her old one. My excitement and anticipation of how good the m1x models are going to be when they come out later this yeah...woooooooooo!
@BrandonBLysticLee4 жыл бұрын
Exactly man! I share the same anticipation of the next chips and where the whole market will shift moving forward. The speed and how smooth these Macs are really can't be explained. I debate with so many people on Facebook and stuff and they always try comparing to what they think Macs and Apple is from the past...but have no idea and never touched the M1 models. Enjoy that though and appreciate the feedback

Thank You!! Thank You!!!! This is what I needed to know. I too have Apollo and needed to know if 8GB M1 MacBook Air will work. Your statement that when you are using Air you don't feel like you are missing the power of your other machine is a relief. I still have my MacBook Pro but it's getting older. I can't afford to bump up the 8GB Air to the 16GB, So, you have put my mind at ease. I knew the M1 8GB operates differently just as you said. To hear someone else say that is using an Apollo is great!!

As someone who builds computers 16 gigs of ram is highly recommended it’s a minimum in 2022 in my honest opinion and you also have to see how fast the ram is being clocked at as well
@BrandonBLysticLee3 жыл бұрын
As someone who also builds computers, 10+ years as an IT professional, IT Bachleors, etc (lol)...oh and uses multiple Windows and Macs on a daily basis....the 8gb is more than enough for the majority of people..especially just for music production. 16 will be better and add a few years of longevity...but the 8gb gets the job done. The 'unified memory' that Apple is using is not the same as the RAM you are used to. It almost feels and performs as double what you actually have due to the efficiency. The 8gb in the Air keeps up with loads that 16gb Windows laptops handle. I now have the 16gb M1 Pro and it performs on par with 32gb laptops from other brands.

Thanks for the vid. Been using a 8GB Air M1 for a week now for development (GoLand, Visual Studio Code in parallell), some design work and basically everything I use a computer for. It seems capable of replacing my Dell XPS 15 (2019). That's wild. This this is a beast, and it's almost unbelievable it does this without a fan. It just changes the perception of what computer performance to expect, and really rocks the boat on processors. I think we'll see an architecture war over the next couple of years - which is great for consumers (:

Thanks for the video. I have a question, do you think the 16 gb of ram would be enough for using sample plug ins? I write orchestral music most of the time and orchestral plugins are really ram hungry because, as you might know, they don’t synthesize the sound in real time, instead, they pull up whatever samples that fit the written melody . I watched some videos where it’s said that 32 gb is a sweet spot for working with plugins of that kind, but since you’re saying the m1 is more ram efficient, I might consider getting one instead of lenovo legion 5 pro. (I’m sort of thinking between the two) and I work on fl studio. I guess it’s already two questions. Anyway, I’d appreciate your comment on this or anyone who has something to say about this :) thanks

Love the vid, super helpful! Do you think thing the base 7-core model of the MacBook Air with 8GB RAM is going to be enough for GarageBand?

I've watched a couple of your videos, I really dig your content. I didn't see a link for the Macbook Pro, am I just overlooking it? I'm definitely going to cop one, so I'd appreciate it if I could buy it through your link.

Subscribed! Been mulling over this decision, I have a 2015 15in Pro to trade-in and this seems like the move! Especially now that NI is working, so stoked. The transition to dongles is gonna be strange tho, do you use a port extension thing for plugging in controllers/ charging/ interface?

Dope! The 15in 2015 is one of the most favored Macbook out there with people due to the ports and all lol...You'll definitely feel the upgrade and will also hate there are only 2 USB-C ports...But yes, I use a dongle that has 4 USB ports, USB-C, HDMI, SD Reader and a headphone jack (I originally bought it for my iPad Pro)...Appreciate the feedback and support
