8:27 - For info. Defenders a have always been link and coil sprung (albeit using separate coils and dampers) - basically the same suspension layout as the Range Rover and S1 Discovery. Land Rover stopped using leaf springs after the Series 3 in the early 1980s, to coincide with the D90 and 110 being introduced.
@craigpimlott204 Жыл бұрын
The first edition 90 and 110 were not called D90 D110 they were just called Land Rover 90/110.which came in 21/4 petrol or 2.5 Na engine or turbo version of which the latter engine was useless that split the pistons in two halves through poor design .the D90/110 edition only came after the TDI engine came into being ..
@yodapig Жыл бұрын
@@craigpimlott204 this is true - although I suspect for the general viewership, the key difference is this generation 'Land Rover' body shape - with the flat grille (and not the recessed Series grille) is the simplest way to differentiate whether they had leaf springs or coils.

@@craigpimlott204 you're spitting hairs now, but ok... If someone wants to build a Series V8, then I suppose they can fit leaf springs to their chassis and modify an RC4WD Defender body to more closely replicate it.

I've held out nearly a decade for this thing but it's recently grabbed my attention. Doesn't have radius arms but the 4-link rear and 3-link + ph up front is close enough to realistic I think I'm sold on that. Yota II axles instead of the older Yota with the worse steering, that's a win. Better servo, that's a win. Better ESC, my goodness, that's more than a win, the old Outcry was a piece of junk. Love the interior, love the .. well, everything! Time to finally grab one to celebrate the decade this thing's been out, I guess! That, and a nice cup of tea :)

For weathering. Hate seeing ppl who rust the whole defenders, they're aluminum! Does rust a lot on the chassis, bulkhead and rear tailgate. The paint tends to chip on lower doors, hinges and behind the rear fenders. There's always scratches down the sides and a dent between the door and the rear wheel. Just a few tips from a Land Rover owner, tho doubt you'll need it 😉 can't wait to see what you do 😊
