All this tooling and development work just for Snap-On only? I find that hard to believe. I can imagine, that Traxxas will release this platform in another livery too. At least I hope that they will. I always dreamed about creating a car from that era, but to get wheels/tires with the right proportions seemed difficult for me and I even have a large bunch of other projects waiting to get done. But I would love to see more vehicles like this and a vintage racing series based on that would be awesome! Thank you for the video, even when it is quite late. I think it wasn't easy to get one of these. We are Snap-On dealers too (the company where I work), but we are located in Germany and even though one of our clerks already asked Snap-On if we could get one of these, chances are quite limited.

I used to work (restore) on real pre ww 2 vintage racecars with this style of lever/ disc spring setup. It is very wallowy on modern asfalt/tarmac roads, but on old- timey hard packed dirt roads or cobled streets, it is actually very comfy , and it helps with top speed and cornering. It's very finicky to get it tensioned properly. Any left/right difference in brake force affect affects it allot, but it can also accommodate for driver/passenger weight per side. It also seems to never break or wear out.

According to a Snap-on dealer, Snap-on has fronted all development and tooling costs so they own this. I reckon Traxxas is acting solely as the manufacturer, not the retailer, so they cannot sell this car directly to Traxxas customers. Each Snap-on dealer is allocated two of these cars and replacement parts aren't available for purchase. Apparently, Traxxas asks that you send them the broken part and they will replace it. I got this info from the web so, yeah, take it for what it's worth (probably not much). Anyway, if this is accurate, I really hope that something changes and we're able to buy this at some point in time. Maybe once Snap-on has recovered their investment plus a handsome profit, they will release it back to Traxxas. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I just spoke with my snappy dealer ( over 40 years selling) , and he told me they …. The dealer is not “allotted” 2 of them … the dealer ( him) itself MUST make a large and I mean “snap on LARGE” purchase and only then they get cars. He knows this because he told me that he CHOSE not to participate in this promotion. I suppose it may be different if there are corporate dealers but I have never met one of those I’ve been a Tech for 28 years. Just my 2 cents love your show Matt !!
@bamabiker7509 ай бұрын
That's interesting @joshrcbros7287 . So the RC also serves as an incentive for the local dealer to sell more tools. No tool sales = no RC to sell. I reckon there are large purchases and there are "Snap-on large" purchases. Anyway, hopefully the agreement between Snap-on and Traxxas (whatever that may be) will expire some day so they can offer this car for sale to the RC community.
@BlueDually4x49 ай бұрын
@@bamabiker750 It wouldn't take much to make a Snap On purchase large. A 73" long toolbox with a built-in power strip is over $10k just by itself. A 3-ton floor jack will set you back around $900. Sale's guy just gets a toolbox and restocks a few common power tools and its over $20k.

I'd say Traxxas definitely did all that R&D for a purpose, and not just one exclusive, limited run model. It kind of pains me that I can't get one for now, and even worse is the "ebay market" as you say, where prices for Snap-On and other exclusive models are plainly absurd. I get the value thing for collectors and such, but then who and when is anybody going to enjoy using it? Driving this around doesn't mean it has to be thrashed and bashed, you can definitely use an RC car without destroying it if you drive realistically. Anyhow, glad you've managed to secure one, and I do hope you get to showcase it somehow thanks to your good production skills.
