Last year I did a stair climb of the 832 steps to the top of the Space Needle as a fundraiser for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. As one of the top ten fundraisers, I had the privilege of walking on the outer halo at the top of the needle just yesterday. It was amazing to be up there. Yesterday was also the 55th anniversary of the opening of the needle to the public. This footage is excellent because it shows the two intertwining staircases in the middle of the structure. It's amazing that you found it in an old projector and I'm grateful that you posted it.

I lived there as a child when it was being built in stages like this - I think they were behind in schedule, so they rushed it to get it built by the time the fair started. Also remember one of those jets on opening day crashing into Lake Washington, or near it. It flew close to my house where I lived. I can understand why you used the silly music. If this film were cleaned up, it might make a good historic piece.

xa - I read a bunch of slams of the music you chose to be the soundtrack of this video. Personally I cant think of better music than this, though I don't know what it is, I would appreciate a reply to let me know artist / song title, but even if you don't, its simply genious! This music is pre & post grunge in one perfectly cooked grilled cheese meltdown upon seattle, from someone who has visited seattle many times, and everyone needs to step back to see the bigger picture. ok, gotta goto work tomorrow miss seattlealready

Rolf Mey - Originally the music I added was a different song. It was something I picked out through the KZbin interface that was a pretty strange, skittish avant garden jazz tune that happened to be th same length as the film. I liked it because it sounded like 8mm film looks. But evidently the licensing on the music changed so I ended up with this, and it makes reading the comments strange. I don't know what this music is, and I can't figure it out.

ProTip: Try turning off the sound. It's that icon on the bottom left on the KZbin player. Or you could try turning down your computer speakers. Wait, I've got it! Hit the replay button, but this time stick your fingers in your ears and yell "NANANANANANANANA..." the whole time the video is playing. If you're looking for a more permanent solution to this problem that has ruined a video for you, put a pencil in each ear, a heavy book in each hand, and then slam the books into the pencils.
