Dogs accidentally get out every now and then, but taking a week to try and get your dog back? Every dog owner I've known who's dog has gone missing, getting their dog back is job one in their lives. Waiting a week really makes it look like getting her dog back when it went missing wasn't job one in her life. Maybe the dog is better off with a new owner.

Sometimes a dog does get lost, it happens, even in good homes. Nowhere in the story does it say she wasn’t looking for her dog. Also, who’s to say she received the messages in a timely manner? I’ve occasionally didn’t receive a voice mail until days after it was left for me. This news story didn’t ask her about the messages so we don’t know, but looking at her devastation, I cannot imagine she didn’t respond as soon as she heard the message regarding her dog. She should get her dog back and you people saying they don’t deserve to be reunited should maybe practice grace and compassion. You need it.

It would be a very horrific mistake to not be more careful with your dogs, since not all neighborhood dogs are friendly. Especially if being approached out of no where. To be with its owner for 11 years then suddenly its whole environment changes, no doubt missing its Mom is absolutely devastating to this dog. they’re not even realizing the stress they’re putting on this poor pup. It’s hard to find a little dog to adopt nowadays at a shelter. They are overcrowded with Pitbulls and large dogs. With the ridiculous high amount they charge for adoption fees, they knew this dog would be adopted out quickly. What people don’t understand about shelters is for every dog taken in they get funded extra money and for every dog adopted out they get extra funded money. If they called and emailed her and did not get a response, your address is also associated with the chip. As for the people that adopted the dog they have a heartless soul for not doing the right thing and returning the dog.

Guarantee the rescue (rescues adopting fees are in the $100, shelter’s adoption fees are reasonable) made a decent profit off the dog. Also rescues are sadly often run by nutcases with savior syndrome. Often they force their adopters to meet ridiculous standards before they are deemed worthy to pay hundreds to adopt. I tried to adopt a cat from 2 different rescues and of the list of requirements for adopting was extreme and ridiculous. They each had there own demands for being deemed worthy to adopt which included random welfare checks for the first 6 months, only organic toys (no allergy it’s just “better” for the cat), that I only use essential oils to freshen my home…..ect. Glad this rescue is under fire and if the new owners are aware they need to return her or be put on blast as well.

Inasmuch as I would never want to see or hear about such mishaps occurring, there are true accidents, and then outright carelessness. It seems that many leaving comments are sensing a similar vibe to me, believing this was a case of the former. Also, is it really in the best interests of the pup to be rehomed as a senior, against the wishes of the original 'owner'? We don't know how much, if any, consideration the Rescue gave to the senior pup potentially missing her original person either, no matter how well-adjusted she may appear. There are plenty of heartless jerks willing and ready to dump their pets without a second thought about it. The dog was CHIPPED, so they KNEW someone owns her, and may not be able to find her. WTF?! Anyone can lose their dog. So, if my child went missing and someone else found them, they could steal my child?! No way. This dog was missing, and that doesn't mean a "rescue" group can STEAL her. That is theft. WTF is wrong with the "rescue" folks and the kidnapping new "owners?"

The original owner did not respond to repeated calls and emails from the shelter, regarding her missing dog. Something is seriously wrong with the original owner. Who takes a week to call a shelter back, when they are trying to let you know that they have your dog? She should not have her dog returned to her, nor should she be allowed to own other animals. Something is seriously wrong with her, probably substance abuse.

I have 2 Vegas rescues & this is BS behavior by the agencies & new owner. These agencies have assumed holier than thou all knowing attitudes, often placing highly desirable animals with friends, family, and co-workers versus qualified members of the public and charge a fortune to place (sell) an animal. This story cuts it for me & I'm ending all volunteer, financial, and social media support today. Bottom line: they sold that womans dog, pocketed the profit, and could care less either way about reuniting a pet with it's true owner for free.

Especially here in S Arizona. I'm in the desert 25 miles from town. I heard a story about a local woman who had just purchased a $900 chihuahua. Her small son took it out into the backyard. She came running out when she heard her son screaming and got there just in time to see a giant hawk flying away with the chihuahua in its talons, leash dangling from the dog's neck.

@@LuckyBaldwin777 Did the dog get away from the hawk and survive ... or not?
@LuckyBaldwin777Күн бұрын
@cathynewyork7918 I doubt the poor dog got away. I've seen that hawk and he's huge. He must be a good hunter to get that big. The truly sad part is the woman told her small son not to take the dog outside. I've seen a dozen different species of hawks out here. Large dogs are safe, but small dogs and cats are in danger outside here. I throw seeds out for the doves and I've seen hawks try to grab them. As soon as the doves take wing they're safe because they can fly much faster than hawks can. It's distressing, but the hawks aren't evil. They're just playing the cards nature dealt them.
@cathynewyork7918Күн бұрын
@@LuckyBaldwin777 You made a good response here. It is so sad if a beloved pet is killed in such a violent way - but I agree with you - the hawk is just responding to a natural instinct to hunt prey for food, not realizing it is a beloved pet. That poor kid will never recover from the horror of seeing his little dog taken away. So sad.

This is the second story I have heard in the last few months about pets that a shelter allowed someone to adopt while the original owner was unaware that their beloved pet was in a shelter. In BOTH cases, the shelters allowed people to adopt the pet, then refused to help the original owner get their pet(s) back. In BOTH cases, it was very clear that the original owner cherished their pet(s) and was devastated by the refusal of the "new owner" to let them have their fur babies back. I think that it is despicable that the people who adopted these pets will not put themselves in the shoes of the original owners and let them be reunited. The other case I saw involved a US Navy veteran whose service dog and cat were mistakenly put up for adoption while the Navy vet was in hospital. I do wish the reporter had asked this lady if she got a call from the shelter so we could hear her side about that issue. In the case of the Navy vet, the phone number on file with the chip was just an old number, so the Navy vet was never informed that a shelter was planning to put her pets up for adoption. It could have been something similar here, too.
