I did 8x1, thats 8. Then that 8 minus the other 8, which is 0. Times that by 10, gives you 0. Add that to the 2, leaves you with 2. Then add the 100 to get the 102 target.

Getting 102 in the countdown number round is an odd flex

In the first numbers round, Jon could have simplified his equation with (100 - 10) x 8 - 1 = 719. It didn't matter here because he had the second 8, but I've seen contestants wreck their chances, not just on _Catsdown_ but also the regular show, by forgetting this fact. If you wanted to pointlessly use all the numbers, then you could do this: 8 x 8 = 64 100 - 64 = 36 10 x 2 = 20 36 x 20 = 720 720 - 1 = 719 But all viable solutions end the same way: get to 720 by some means and subtract 1. In the second numbers rounds there were lots of solutions because it's a very factorizable target (13 x 2^6 = 832). This is another: 9 x 4 = 36 100 - 36 = 64 10 + 2 + 1 = 13 64 x 13 = 832

Sometimes you miss obvious answers because your instinct with 100 and five smalls is to go to the nearest hundred (i.e 8 -1 * 100 = 700) and then you stuff around trying to get 19 from the rest of the numbers.
