Wow! Archeologist should know where you found that ancient axe so they can excavate the site. It's such an incredible find, just like the one my grandpa found in upstate New York. He was so happy when he found out it was so valueless and so collector worthy as it was. Imagine the surprise of finding an early American Iron age Brahmascat clefting axe from the 8th century right next to his woodshed. He's never found anything like that again. You're so lucky to have been in the right place at the right time and got it all on video.

The beginning or how you find the dry axe in moist soil, and the metal alone, without the rotten wood in the basic image, look as another fake restoration, but the work on it was nice
@uniquethings603211 ай бұрын
The beginning of this video is like a documentary. A retelling of the events that really happened. The axe was indeed found in the ground at the edge of the forest. Thanks for commenting and watch the other videos!

As much as i believe that most if not all of these are staged, I appreciate the time and use of tools to restore the items used.

this hurts as a black smith and a history buff if that axe was as old as you think it was that is no way to restore it much less chrome it up and turn it in to a over done pickaxe why would you do that, all your outher vids are bang on but the axe.... ...

how to destroy a 1000 year old axe more like, no historic value left at all now, and should have been put in a museum as a historic piece as it does indeed look like a genuine period axe
@docneron493310 ай бұрын
You must be an American. Such Viking axes are a dime a dozen in Europe. You’d be hard-pressed to find a museum with artifacts from that period that doesn’t have a decent collection of these axe heads here.
@andyc75010 ай бұрын
@@docneron4933 no I am from the UK, you must be a Yank thinking that way as they are not as you put it a dime a dozen and evidently you don't visit museums here is Europe
@docneron493310 ай бұрын
@@andyc750 you’re from UK and don’t have tons of these Viking axes? I’m from a small-ish city in Germany and even our history museum has a whole big-ass part of a room with axes, knives, clothes from the Viking era. They are still artifacts, for sure, but not something museums chase after these days since everyone with a focus on that particular time period has something to show. Was there a time when in UK this stuff was considered trash or how come they are considered museum-prized precious over there?
@TinaMdot7 ай бұрын
@@docneron4933 The fact they aren't rare doesn't make them less artifact. And the Vikings weren't as present in middle or south Germany, so your statement is only partially true for Germany and there are quite a few areas of Europe where the Vikings haven't been.
@andyc7503 ай бұрын
@@docneron4933no there was never a time when it was considered trash as you put it, and even back when it was new they were never a dime a dozen as you put it, and axe like anything iron and steel would have been an expensive thing to own and mist would not be able to afford one,.not sure what you have seen but it certainly isn't piles of ancient axes from that period as only warriors, craftsmen and relatively wealthy would have had anything made of iron and steel
@gabrieltraknyak18713 ай бұрын
These medieval axe heads are more common than people think. In relic condition such as this, they are considered worthless to most collectors and museums alike. At least now, this one will outlast the disintegrating ones in the earth.

Destruction of a historical artifact should be called "careful restoration". Such "restorers" should be prosecuted and fined!
