I think TGTB is coming out with a full course for 8th grade in the next year or two. My 8th grader is doing IEW this year since I didn’t feel like the book studies were enough for a whole year.

We are using Denison PreAlgebra this year as well. We are in week 3. There were tears and frustration last week from him. I was getting frustrated because I know he can do it. This week so far we are doing ok. I love this math so far. Mr. Denison is fantastic and does a great job at explaining everything.

Oh I hope it ends up being a good fit! I know each kid is different, so there’s no guarantee it will work for everyone, but I was so happy with how it worked with my oldest last year! Praying you have a great year! ❤️

I'm switching ALL my boys to Denison this year. Big sticker shock, but everyone sings their praises, so I have really high hopes. We have done teaching textbooks for years and years. My youngest in 7th grade is doing prealgebra starting next week.

I plan on using Denison Pre-Algebra next year for my daughter as well. We love TG&TB. By the way TG&TB are working on their new level 6 & 7 L.A. that will be released in spring/summer of 2025. As soon as they release them they are going ahead and make a level 8 L.A. to replace the book studies. The level 7 that you have could be used for a high school level as well. I have seen some people use it. It all depends on the child and where they are at. If you go to the FAQs under the level 7 LA on TG&TB website it says, "The instruction in Level 7 is comparable to 9th grade work." Good luck on this year. I haven't had a chance to order yet. I will here soon. Still trying to figure it all out. 😀

That's exciting about the new levels! I'm glad they're making a level 8 curriculum for those that prefer that! I have heard that lately from quite a few people about the level 7 being close to a 9th grade level!

Math question- we have used CLE from level 1 to 5. (Started over at the beginning after other brands didnt work.) We are finishing 5, starting 6 this fall in 7th grade, and plan to use Denison for the future. Do you think they would be ready for Denison pre-Algebra in 8th after CLE 6?

I really think that the way he teaches it is easy for a kid to go right into it. My daughter did CLE 7 before doing pre algebra and she's doing well in Denison so far. I can't speak for your child, but I would think it would be ok.

We have been using BJU math including for pre-Algebra but we definitely need something that explains the lessons…BJU math teacher books do not explain the lesson in a way my son understands (or in a way I understand 😬). Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!! -Traci

@@RaisingkidsforChrist we used the Pre-Algebra last year and are about three chapters into the Algebra. We love it! The videos are great. He explains things so well. There are also solution videos you can watch to see the problems worked out. It’s been a game changer for my son.

You actually get 15 months for Denison. They build in a 3 month buffer. 😊

I had my kids tested using the Iowa test a few months ago after doing a full year of 3rd, 6th and 7th grade language arts tgtb and they tested 90%and above for l.a. and history. I am blown away with tgtb curriculum. We were using math u see up until then and they didnt test well so we are switching to BJU press. The Iowa test bases their test off BJU material so thats a huge reason we chose them, but I love the way they teach math!! I wish I knew about it from the beggining. Luckily my kindergartderner is gonna be able to do bju all the way through im hoping❤

No, I wouldn't say it does. It depends on the level, but most of her language is independent and then she does just a few things with me. I haven't timed it yet, but I wouldn't say its long. We're loving it so far!

Do you like the The Good and Beautiful language arts better than CLE language arts? I watched your videos on CLE language arts and I just wanted to know which one you and your children prefer.

I came to the comment section - I have the same question. My son is doing TGTB Level 6 right now, and I'm not a huge fan. I'm thinking of switching back to CLE LA & Reading next year for him. It's either that, or Essentials in Writing with the online/teacher help. My son needs MAJOR help in the writing section of LA.

@teaandteaching537 I wouldn’t say I’ve found the key to writing 🤔 so I’m not sure what to recommend. My kids are pretty good writers and I have somewhat of a writing background so they’re doing pretty good even with Tgtb. But I’ve always said, if it’s not working for your family then you need to find something that does! CLE is wonderful! You still might need to add some writing though.

I usually stop using CLE reading after elementary, mostly because of the workload. I believe I have done CLE reading for middle school a couple times, and it was good....I just go a different route in the upper grades.
