For everyone hating out there ^-^ 1. In volleyball every point you get is your point, they cheer for every point because it keeps your mental state up! Volleyball is a mental game as well as physical! 2. Number 17 the SETTER is supposed to get 2nd ball ALWAYS, unless she calls help! 3. There is going to be a space on the volleyball court that is open, its called the "pot" they were in their correct spots at all time! The 6 back (middle) is the one who gets the spikes in the very back, the two sides a bit up from 6 back are the ones who cover the pot and get tips! And the ones at the net are coming for a tip or a block from the other team. 4. As for where they are on the court! Or their formation. They are in the right spots, what they are doing is a 5/1 which means there is only one setter on the court and 3 hitters, everyone has a "home" on the court, they go to their home when they put the ball over, like when they serve t over, spike it, tip it, free ball it, whenever they send the ball over they are running to their home area on the court :)

Everyone who says 17 is a ball hog clearly doesn't play volleyball. 17 is the setter which means she should get most of the 2nd balls to set it up so her right and left side hitters (or middle) can hit it. When the setter runs half way across the court to dig a ball that isn’t even going to set the power or middle, what’s the difference then the back row just doing an overpass or they set instead. Also it messes up transitions from base to cover. Also the term “help” isn’t when the setter can’t get that ball. It’s when they know that they can’t set the ball well.

Elizabeth West they were hustling and working very hard. 80% of volleyball is out of system while 20% isn't. Both teams did very good. Also, celebrating over one point is how volleyball works. One point is worth more than what it looks like. One point is one more step closer to 25. In volleyball, you have to keep the energy up to keep the game going or else it will get boring and no one will try as hard.

For all those people saying that they are just eighth graders so don’t point out their mistakes, I’m an eight grader and I’ve seen other players, like myself, in the same grade do so much better. Honestly, I come from a third world country and I assumed America would have better classes but apparently not. There are so many times when more than one person moves for the ball, and I don’t hear anyone shouting mine as far as I can tell. Their passing is also subpar at best and the only one I really see not letting the ball drop is number 17. Them moving around all the time is not a good idea because you don’t know if the team will play a trick and hit to the position you left. Another reason from what I can tell why this is happening is because, again, with calling the ball. If a player near the ball calls for it then 3 other players won’t have to be rushing to that area. Also, when you know that the setter won’t be able to reach the ball in time why not do her a favor and pass the ball for her? There are so much areas that need to be fixed and I think it might relate to their training because really these are just some basic things. I really hope these girls do improve.

Ivy Hung Ivy Hung I see what you’re saying about the doing a favor for the setter, but at my school, my coach specifically tells us to not go for the ball unless the setter calls help. Even then, only the libero is supposed to take it. It’s just how we’re coached. I personally had many balls this season that were dropped because the setter just couldn’t get there and we couldn’t get it ‘cause she didn’t call help. It’s just a bad system.

Maybe that’s it. It would be better to switch to a 4-2 position then where 2 setters are on the court so in the case where one can’t get to it the other one can. That’s what my school does.

#17 is not a ball hog. First of all, it's her job to take second ball because she's the setter and I know because when the ball is far from her, she calls help and when her team isn't serving, she's on net while everyone is off. 2thing is that unless the ball isn't coming her way, she should be playing defense lastly, she's the best player and her hustle is the best, I know because I am also a setter for volleyball.

17 was a really amazing setter, especially for an 8th grader. Plus she also had the assets of a libero, being able to dig a ball not even close to her position and be able to keep it in play. I haven't seen any comments on her actually being a ball hog, but if anyone thinks that she's a setter so she always gets second touch. I feel like she would be able to play better if only the rest of the players on the team were on par with her.

#17 is probably the best player. Her hits would be good if she stood back and did an approach. Her sets are probably better than their actual setter. She moves to the ball, like a libero, and her serves are fairly good. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 she has a very promising future.

Some times the setter doesn't have to get every second ball. All I see in the comments is "she's the setter, the second ball is hers". There are plenty of times where her other teamsters could have gotten the ball. I've played vball in hs. Our setter was never liked this.

Dude, #17 is awesome! And she is the setter, setters are like the pole that keeps the flag up, and they get the ball more than anyone else. I know I won't be playing setter in volleyball though, I have terrible volleyball control when it comes to setting but I have the most powerful serve out of my whole team, and It's my favorite thing to do!
