This channel is the gift that keeps giving. From the Gracci right up until the Flavians there seems to be a slow but steady push toward formalized, institutionalized empire. Augustus basically set up the "final boss" of the patron-client system, and was just one of several key individuals responsible for the empire's solidification. Can't wait for Sejanus and Claudius who I think each deserve much more credit for their roles in developing the imperial government than they're given, which is next to nothing. Vespasian and his sons also seem to get very little credit for their roles in this two century long process.

This was great. Thank you so much for continuing the story past Augustus' raise!
