9/11 Memorial Tour (Where Twin Towers stood)

Lovely visit. Thank you. We lived in a Hudson River Town, and I left work to pick up my kids from school - I realized that there were going to be a lot of dads who would not be coming home that evening…(many of the people in town worked in the financial district) I got to the school about 10;:00 AM, before the kids had been told anything about what was happening. My son was in the second grade, and as he came down the hall toward me - he had something REALLY important to tell me. “Mom! We were outside on the playground before the doors opened, and a REALLY BIG white plane flew over my head. It was REALLY low and REALLY REALLY LOUD.” I told him to try and remember that airplane “it’s important.” My son looked up to see the final moments of American Airlines flight 11 as it flew down the curve of the Hudson River, over Springhurst Elementary school - and into history.

What a story - thank you for sharing it! Very poignant and memorable on a sad but historic day! The whole world was shook that day.

Wow I bet that was an impressive sight to behold. I can remember seeing the second tower hit live on telly. It was terrible.

thanks for that 1 mate, im guessin its a somber atmosphere round it, we both know the impact of terrorism, this was our troubles toll in a day, hope your havin a good hols, did you see the shot from leones once upon time in america at the bridge, thats on my bucket list 😂😂

Yes mate. People in NI know too well the scourge of terrorism that has wrecked our great land. The one thing I really admire about America is their sense of loyalty to their flag - some say it is cringe but far better that than UK patriotism being labelled as bigotry.
