The stereotype that every Israeli hates is that Israel 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 🇮🇱 is a country of white Jewish people. 🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒 Wrong! Israel is an incredibly diverse and multicultural nation. A common and profound misunderstanding about Jews is that they are all white. However, Jews come in no one shape, colour or size.🥺🥺🥺✌✌✌

I saw one of the weirdest stereotypes about Brazil when I was watching a movie called Fast and furious 5 where the character called toreto said in one of the scenes: This is Brazil....and then everyone at the scene got their weapons.... Brazil is not about weapons, or bitchs, or even Favelas ....it has a lot of culture, accents, nature , etc... Come here one day and you will be amazed about our culture....🇧🇷

I have lived in Asia, Europe (Switzerland, France, Germany), Canada, and California, the majority of my time out of my native land. From my own point of view, thinking out of the box, or creativity, comes from intelligent people, who have been living in the margin of societies, due to their outstanding views, or being ahead of their time, plus their power of abstraction and synthesis that allow them to see things in patterns. Americans are more homogenous than you think. Everyone everywhere is patriotic, except a few, out of the box. Some might think patriotism is idiotic. Advanced countries in Europe are more self effacing, and use their flags sparingly. But it does not mean they are less patriotic. Asians are much more complex, sophisticated. The more you know about them, the harder they are to define. Lots of geniuses. Vanessa, I love your optimism. You are exceptional. Just want to add to your wonderful explanation. Of course this is just my opinion. I am a very old man.

What an inspirational, informative and interesting lesson, thanks. Really blow my mind. I remember coming across an American family at the southest tip of Taiwan , aka Kenting National Park seven years ago. OMG Vanessa... you did it again!!! This is a very interesting way of knowing more about your country... our stereotypes in Honduras are: 1. We are pessimists 😔 2. We are hard workers 3. We love soccer (we called it futbol) 4. Unfortunately there isn't empathy 😥 5. We treat visitors as family (I'm not sure if treat is the correct word in this case)

An amazing video! Thank you so much. I enjoyed it very much. A British colleague told me what he had lived at an American restaurant in NewYork. The waiter had asked him whether he wanted soup or salad. My colleague had understood it as super salad. He had thought since Americans offered food in big portions, the waiter was asking him about the size of the salad. So everytime he was answering by saying that he wanted super salad. But the waiter was continually asking him whether he wanted soup or salad. Every time he was answering by saying super salad. The conversation was going on like a yo-yo. -Soup or salad? -Super salad. -Soup or salad? -Super salad. -Soup or salad? -Salad. Finally, he had realized what the waiter had meant. And he had answered by saying salad. I laugh a lot, whenever this conversation comes to my mind.

Hi Vanessa, let me tell you that you're the best English teacher I've ever seen because of your enjoyable, delightful and rewarding lessons 😊❤. And I also was shocked 😲 by this impressive topic of stereotypes in America which are unbelievable to get into if we compare the United States to other countries, one mind-blowing stereotype about its reputation as a country itself is that almost everyone right there has at least one threatening firearm under their control and I think that's very unacceptable in my opinion and I don't know about the American society well even though I really love its fascinating culture, history, as well as its influential power at any aspect across the globe. And answering your question, in my country Peru where I'm actually from, as you may know we have several stereotypes and I just want to bring up one of them because Peru has a very complicated society. It has strong social class stereotypes that are heavily based on the colonial hierarchy settled by the Spanish conquerors which has been remained nationwide and it's practically impossible to get rid of it. That stereotype really resembles racism and classism when white people of European heritage belonging to the upper socio-economic classes (including me) prejudice against indigenous people belonging to the lower socio-economic classes, this can also affects black people and individuals of Asian heritage which is a daily life big deal. It has been happening because too many indigenous people have emigrated from the Peruvian countryside to major coastal cities such as Lima. Peru and the United States are not very different countries when it comes to emphasizing racism and classism. Judging some individuals due to their physical appearance, ethnicity and social status is something serious and irritating. It's very hard for me to embrace those inequalities within this society made up of distinct cultural backgrounds but it stands out its amazing, prevalent and huge diversity at the same time. Afterwards I did enjoy this topic to learn more and more about cultural differences and similarities between countries, thanks a lot Vanessa.

A personal opinion: The stereotype isn't always the country where the person comes from, but the person outside it. Every country has a problematic part and it's okay, we don't have control over the attitudes of us Co-patriots. However, it is good to remembering that this pattern is often associated with a small group of people, not everyone.

Thank you for this great lesson, Vanessa. I didn't know Americans are used to second-hand stuff. For only a few years second-hand shops are coming up in the Netherlands. The USA is a multicultural society by origin. Except for the Amerindians, every group has its roots somewhere else. So acceptance of people from different origin is no big deal. Countries with a monocultutal history, e.g. European countries, have difficulties accepting people from other cultures.

From my point of view, having small cars isn't dangerous and it's more convenient to park and easier to go through narrow streets and places but ofc it's all big and wide in the US so, it might be different from your perspective. Sometimes, I don't quite understand about thrift stores like you all buy something branded or wear something new for a few months and then sent to the thrift stores later ? It's true that you said it's hard to find secondhand shops in the other countries. We buy new clothes and just donate to the people in needs if we want to or just wear them until they're old. There're secondhand shops or cheap sales but it's the best when you can find something good in there. It's treasure hunting as you said.

What a video Vanessa! Thanks ☺️ I really enjoyed it. I am from Mexico and you might heard some stereotypes about Mexicans in Texas. First of all we love partying and that’s true, every special moment can be a party with a lot of music and alcohol, second one, we are lazy, that’s false! There are a lot of Mexicans working hard in the USA and in Mexico most of the people only have one day off on the week, and 8 vacations days per year. That’s means we work a lot. This ideas came to mind and in my opinion, Americans only thing in consumption and successful, just like you said, of course everyone wants to do their best in life and get the life they wish, however the competition it could be the problem. I love your video and greetings!
