Wouldn't the readback facility feed back into the programming? Is it typical for programming accuracy to be different from readback accuracy?
@KeysightLabs4 жыл бұрын
From Bill: Programming accuracy really means setting accuracy. You can set the voltage from the front panel, LAN, or USB. Program accuracy defines how closely the voltage output will be to the setting. Readback accuracy defines how accurately we measure the output voltage which is displayed on the front panel, and sent over LAN, or USB.

I need one of these to test amp draw from quadcopter motors, I think the load regulation feature would really help with that, as the voltage drops on lipos when i “punch” the motors. Can’t afford it though :/ .....maybe someday 🤷🏻♂️
@sinx22002 жыл бұрын
There are some fairly cheap versions of these, even then couldn’t you test the draw with a good multimeter? I’m not very knowledgeable though
@tjipp424 жыл бұрын
Nice done! You mention several important parameters, usually found in the datasheets for power supplies. One parameter that I think is harder to find is the supply’s “easy to use”. It is of course not easy to specify this and what is easy or convenient is also depending on your personal preferences. But I think there some universal features such as clear, logic and configurable display, possibility to set voltage and current both by keypad and knobs, dedicated output on/off buttons. How does Keysight work when designing UI? Can I as a user influence this? I have an E36313A and think it has really good UI, but really miss the possibility you had on e.g. the old HP66312A. With the left and right arrow keys you could move the cursor to one digit and when increase/decrease it with the up or down arrow or the knob. An easy way to step the output voltage in e.g. 0.1V steps while observing your DUT to see when it shuts down or wakes up. May we see a FW update with this feature? :)
@KeysightLabs4 жыл бұрын
The best way to feed this info back is to call/email our support line and submit an enhancement request at www.keysight.com/find/contactus I've seen many features/design elements come to life that way. We have some R&D folks that specialize in UX, but it depends on the group.

I am getting back into electronics as a hobby and my career. I'll be working as an instrumentation mechanic at a power plant. From the video it appears Keysight manufacturers triple benchtop power supplies, what models of power supplies do recommend for a novice like myself? I also just purchased "The Art of Electronics" and in Appendix L they recommend the HP E3630A but I've not been able to find any place that sells these units new out of the box. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to viewing more of your videos. Cheers from North Pole, Alaska!🎅🎄
@KeysightLabs4 жыл бұрын
North Pole, wow! The HP supplies aren't sold new anymore, but the latest triple output power supply is the E3631xA series. I use mine all the time. If you are more budget strapped there are some pretty good used options out there - they tend to last a long time.

I wish that the E36313A had more annunciation options, such as 4 short warning beeps (similar to ST:TNG error) when transitioning from voltage to current mode that could be accompanied by fast channel button flashing on the affected channel. For an OCP trip perhaps there could be a long beep with the shutdown channel flashing slowly somehow. (breathing?)

I love the world of electronics and am teaching myself as a hobby and trying to teach my daughters too because it’s something we can all do together . I would be extremely grateful for any equipment you no longer need or use that could possibly be donated? I cannot justify spending money for an oscilloscope or power supply with my limited income. These items would be massively beneficial to my hobby and teaching for the girls. ( only very basic nothing too fancy would be required ) Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
