Eskerrik asko eta agur!!

It was at that gazebo in 2019 where I learned that people were still dancing the Lindy Hop. When I returned home, I was shocked to learn from KZbin that this dance is still popular all around the world. I was set to volunteer at the International Lindy Hop Championship in NY last month but reconsidered due to Covid concerns. As it turned out, many people did contract covid there including several of my favorite competitors. I think I made the right decision.

Hey you two. I love your content. I’ve been following for a while. My friend and I have settled on a modified Camino Norte with a longer stop in San Sebastián. I understand we can’t stay at an albergue (at least a municipal one) for more than one night and will need to book other accommodations. You mentioned in this video that you stayed in an apartment in Gros. Would you recommend that place, and if so, what is the contact information for it? Thanks.
@DaysWeSpend2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! Our apartment was through a rental company called FeelFree. The place we stayed has a one month minimum. Some places on that site don’t have minimums, but it’s very pricey for a short term stay. On two previous trips we stayed in an airbnb room with an incredible local host in Gros. She introduced us to Pintxo pote! Send us a DM, email, or an IG message and we’ll share the listing with you.

Many places are closed on Sunday (at least in the off season, that was our experience). But that does mean things are a little less crowded.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Did you stay at an Airbnb or hotel? I’ll be there for 4-5 nights in February and want to stay somewhere so I can walk to everything. Especially food spots 😋 Any recommendations on which area to stay, hotels, etc? Thank you!
@DaysWeSpend11 ай бұрын
We actually rented an apartment for two months to save on costs while we immersed ourselves in San Sebastián. FeelFree does luxury short term rentals (I’m not sure what their minimum is but it’s worth a look). Gros is the best. Best tapas. Great beach. Really fun. Don’t miss pintxo pote night on Thursdays!

Glad to find your video on San Sebastian. You mentioned staying in Gros in an apartment. I didn't see a link for the place. Was it a long stay rental? Was it inexpensive? I'm planning to stay in San Sebastian after doing the Camino Podiensis.

Absolutely. We were only there for a few months, so I’m not sure how accurate we could be. Plus there’s a huuuuuge price swing depending on the season. Rent, for example, triples in the summer.

Pronunciation tips: Unlike in Spanish, the G in Basque always sounds the same (like the G in "guest"), so Egia and okindegia use that G. In Spanish you need a U to make that sound as in GUE and GUI (the U is silent). But if the U has two dots (Ü) then the U is Not silent (as in Sagüés, the U is pronounced).
@DaysWeSpendАй бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind reminder and explanation. We hate mispronouncing it but we’re always happy to learn! eskerrik asko!

Great video except for all the goofing around. Surprised you didn’t mention the funicular railway though - one of the three oldest in Spain and spectacular views at the top. A real highlight for us.
@DaysWeSpend Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The funicular is really cool but in our experience (we went twice), everything was closed or it was so crowded that the line was 2 hours to the top. We tried walking up, but the road was randomly closed for construction with no notice. Our experience was not one we wanted to recommend.

Do you have accommodation tips?
@DaysWeSpend Жыл бұрын
Our number one tip is to travel in the off season when accommodation is cheaper. We've used Airbnb successfully (booked a room in a local's apartment). Our host Monika gave us a great introduction to the city. If you're flexible with your dates, often times there is more affordable accommodation available (such as avoiding weekends and holidays).

@DaysWeSpend8 ай бұрын
We don't recommend taking the train from Barcelona to San Sebastian. There isn't a direct route and it requires many transfers. We suggest flying into Irun/San Sebastián or Bilbao. Or, take the bus (you can book directly through the Monbus website).
