Man, I’m so glad I have a pair of iPod pros and got rid of the cords quite a while back! I’m getting the Scotty vest with the magnetic removable sleeves. The vest that I’m getting even though it has sleeves and it’s technically a coat has a vented back. It’s for tropical climate basically. I’m going to be flying a lot of south east Asian countries. I’m going to cheat them out of every dime that I can when it comes to baggage fees. Cheap Charley here! Thanks for the great review

Lainey, I’ve watched all of your videos and wore/carried all of your past suggestions for my September Camino Português. Everything was perfect! I’m curious how you buy your gear. I live in Portugal and only return to the US once a year. I want that Jolly Gear shirt, but how did you get it in Spain? Shipping from US to Portugal is practically impossible and customs can be anything, even 300% value. I love both you and Shawn! You are happiness on demand!
@DaysWeSpend21 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm so glad my previous videos were so helpful for you. That's a really great question. First, we look for an EU website (such as for Salomon, Altra, etc). For the Jolly Gear, we had that shipped to my family in the USA. When they visited, they brought the shirts with them. It takes forever but it's better than dealing with customs which often rejects our orders.

Another great video/adventure. We’re just catching-up on what we missed. Just got back from a couple of weeks in the UK. Looks like we missed a lot. We’re now planning our 20th( give or take a couple) trip to Spain. This year, we’re finally gonna make it to Galicia. Probably spend 2 or 3 weeks in March. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much! We hope you had a nice trip to the UK. March is a nice time in Galicia. Plan early because Easter (Semana Santa) is late so the Entroido and Semana Santa festivities will mean things book up early.

You guys are great! I am interested in doing the Mardrid...just seems a bit baron and sketchy after Segovia. I prefer the quieter ones but this may be a bit too much. Have done a bunch of Camino (never the Frances with exception of a few days)..Aragones, Salvador, Invierno, Sanabras...so the emptiness appeals to me but not ringing revues on the albergues. My days of 30km are getting a bit tough for these old bones too. Anyway...love your work and the information provided. Keep going!
@DaysWeSpend2 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! There are options to shorten the days to about 14 kms. We heard good things about the albergues that we didn't stay at. We never felt unsafe after Segovia and some of the towns were sooooo welcoming to pilgrims. Buen Camino!

I tried the same Mountain Hardware pants before and I love how they fit so well for petite individuals. However, I ended up not keep them because of the pilling I had on my other MH pants. I found the company's polyester always pills, and rather stick with nylon when it comes to pants. How is your pant holding up from the 14 days?

I have walked 9 caminos and have still not walked in June, July and August. The earliest in January and latest in November. But you never know what you get. In April 2016 I crossed the pyrenees from St jean in cold rain that turned into a snowstorm. When I arrived in Roncevalles I was number 6 that had arrived I was told that both routes over the pyrenees had be closed two hours earlier and emergency services were out now to pick up pilgrims. I moved on to Burguete and next morning woke up to a foot of snow everywhere. I chose to go all in and walked all the way to pamplona where I arrived late afternoon in 25 degrees celsius beautiful sunshine. No rain or snow on the rest of the camino.

I am with Lainey on the micro towel. I have been using one for years. I like the beaner idea for hanging the pack. I will have to check out running vest packs. I have been using a Golite Jam Pack, but the biggest drawback is not having the water up front. Dry bags are another great idea. I usually go with breathable mesh or nylon stuff sacks and a pack cover, but the dry bags could eliminate the need for a pack cover. Another great video!

Pronunciation tips: Unlike in Spanish, the G in Basque always sounds the same (like the G in "guest"), so Egia and okindegia use that G. In Spanish you need a U to make that sound as in GUE and GUI (the U is silent). But if the U has two dots (Ü) then the U is Not silent (as in Sagüés, the U is pronounced).
@DaysWeSpend6 күн бұрын

I used the Altra Lone peaks for my Camiño in September/October. Great shoe, my only issue was some parts of the trail were so rocky and my feet took a beating. I changed insoles 2 weeks in and it helped for the remainder of the pilgrimage.
@DaysWeSpend6 күн бұрын
I wear barefoot shoes in my normal life so the Altras feel super squishy for me! Some of our friends like the Altra Olympus. They have a lot more insole thickness. Glad you found a solution that worked for you.

Thanks Lainey (and your off-screen auditor 🙂) If you’re not sure, you can bring a small bag, and get it transported forward to the major towns/your chosen rest day locations only, and to a re-think/re-pack there, before forwarding the left over stuff in the small bag to Santiago or your next rest stop (depending how you feel)
@DaysWeSpend6 күн бұрын
Thanks for the tip. We know about the transports and we chose not to use them. For us, we like the flexibility to change our plans. We also like the packing challenge of going light. Also, many less popular routes don’t offer this option.
