Congratulations! And well done Team! "Cutting out the dead wood" and converting it to fuel seems an excellent metaphor for life :) I have a feeling there have always been a good working team of family and friends in this place. I wonder if that was the unconscious attraction in the first instance? Besides the stunning beauty, of course. It's those subtle energies that contrive to fulfill a dream.

A timely reminder of our adventure 20 years ago, after satisfying red tape and then the packing my wife & i moved from Suffolk UK to a very quiet setting in Victoria Australia. We settled into our 40 Acre farmlet with a large run down house and lots of outbuildings and spent 3+ years enjoying the renovation of the house & land.. You're series is really lovely and I hope you find peace and solitude and enjoy every moment...

Well along with it's attractiveness, you managed to find one of the few old Italian houses with easy access and lots of storage options while you're in the process of remodeling... not a small thing! 👍🏼🙂
@storiesfromthecascina Жыл бұрын
that's definitely one of the reasons why we loved this house so much! the proximity to the road - even though we would have loved it to be just 10-20 metres further away - has so many benifits: it gets cleared when it snows, it's easy to access with moving vans, acquadotte is close by, etc. it is also a dead end street with a few other farms after us but we only get local traffic :)

@@storiesfromthecascina Definitely lots of pluses, if you have to have a road in front, that's the kind to have and you'll be meeting all your neighbors as well.... I'm sure they're dying of curiosity about your remodel and also happy that the place won't go to ruin. 😉 My parents were Italian, so I'm a dual and I lived in the Veneto for 23 years and I miss Italy so much... it will always be in my heart. I'm in Mexico now, cheaper and I'm closer to the kids in Colorado... one has to be flexible in these new and bizarre times. 🙄 But I'm subscribed and will be keeping an eye on your new adventures... all the best!
@lagringa7518 Жыл бұрын
@@storiesfromthecascina Well as things go along you can plant a low hedge between the road and you, which would give you a bit more day to day privacy yet won't block your views, maybe rhododendrons or azaleas for color. 😉

I enjoy your comments about moving to a new country. I am sure it is or can be intimidating. For me it was a phone call from my son saying he wanted to buy a house in Italy. Since I had spent time in Piedmont this was the area I suggested to him. Two years later and we have a house and are remodeling it. I do believe it is different for me than someone from Europe. I am from the USA. The culture and languages of Europe are so diverse by comparison. I am so excited to be making friends in our little village. I have begun to speak to the locals in the coffee shop when I learn a new phrase in Italian. I am so happy to have this experience. I love the spot you have picked and hope all the best for you in your adventure.

Then about 14 years ago I (but not alone this time) had a dream to move from one side of the country to the other, from almost the east coast, to almost as far south-west as you can go 🥰 That changed from dream to another 5 to 6 years of tough planning. we try to subtitle all relevant bits of non-english conversation. the dutch parts that are not subtitled are often fragments of poor quality audio recordings (these conversations are unstaged, often not recorded in their entirity as they happen during managing the camera, and we can't put mics on everyone - those things cost! 😄). we choose to not edit them out as it's the authentic sound with the images and it's weird to see mouths move without sound 😉

@@storiesfromthecascinamaybe just put a small message in your subtitles or let people know that some bits won't be subtitled. We turned them on in case you had subtitled. Unfortunately there were some really odd things that got 'said' in the subtitles when you were speaking Dutch.🙃

If you could verbally give a frame of reference on some of the beautiful panoramic views. for example: "This is the view of the village from our ___? ___? __?"
