For those complaining about the ”griefer problem” here is a simple solution that I hope makes its way to Rockstar. Rockstar needs to implement a mechanic that makes it easier to differentiate between players with good, bad and neutral honor standing. Light blue = high good honor Dark blue = low good honor White = Neutral Light red = low bad honor Dark red = high bad honor Green = Posse members If a mechanic such as that would be added, it would make it much easier to find out which players are of the ”shoot first, ask questions later” category.

Maybe a system which gives bad honor players bounties like in single player, if they kill someone. Where bounty Hunters (but less shit ones) come after you, and lawmen in cities will instantly start shooting players with a large bounty.

I always record people who shoot first because then if they continue and I start shooting and if they say I shot first I can prove. I rarely shoot first but only during side missions I shoot first if they are running along side me. I hate that they use "you shot first" though I had no intentions on shooting them. I would say leave peoples missions alone because it then will notify the persons that you decided to interrupt before and they will destroy your mission. I do message first or get on the Mic and ask if there is a problem. I then proceed to say your welcome you are recorded if you continue I will report you along with recorded evidence. I once had someone going to extreme griefing measures used dynamite to kick me out of camp just to drag my character (the screams of my character are so blood curdling) or shoot my character. Also what pisses me off the newbies think its okay to shoot you for no reason and your horse. I was told by one of the players by the posse "the suggins gang" that the old west was about shooting and attacking people I had so much three star stuff on my horse that I lost it was because my system froze for a second (there were gunslingers and technically ass holes as there are today, but there would have to be a reason for someone to shoot you). I am a peaceful player but if you cheat it ruins the game for everyone else. I was on an Arabian and this dude was on a Kentucky saddler(a saddlebred) did a speed glitch just to grief. I got a video and a picture of his horses stats.

@@dcaseng Yeah, but let's remember that passive mode on the early times could still get you killed by explosions and cars. It only prevented you from being shot on foot. It also didn't work on cars. I remember it was high priority to find a car with somewhat protected windows because there were no armored vehicles back then. The Kuruma only came in the heist update (and goddamn was it cancerous like the Opressor Mk.2 is today) At that time we only could start with a Pistol and that was it... No weapons from the right wall of Ammu-nation. Level 20 or so for an SMG. Also back then, you would lose all the money you had in hand if you died. So you would complete a mission, you had to passive and run on foot, hide and store your cash as fast as you could, because everyone would spawn together after the mission, and they DID kill you to get your cash That's why I stopped playing GTA as a Level 10 until about 2 years later. Created a new character and today I'm level 157

Was hunting some wolves, got lasso’d by a Griefer (or however you spell it). And guess what. I had some faith, and killed him. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m a low level player, and he was level 100 something. Picking on the low level trader and collectors. Not cool man... not cool Recent update: this guy (level 299) kept following me, flipping me off, destroying my camp (with white flag raised ) killing me over and over, punching my horse killing Cripps . It lasted 45 minutes before I put got mad and put on my mic on and told him to F off . Nah.. he didn’t. He just escalated. So I canceled my session. 🙄. Like omg... I swear these people get off on this.

Red dead is addictive tbh. I played it 12 hours straight on an off day just hunting. A friend and I stole the train and went to hunt for bears and when we stopped the train there just so happened to be one two feet off the tracks. Then when we went down the hill my friend got mauled by another one and I tried saving him and it died at my feet lol. Good times.

You don't need a posse. A posse attacked me when clearing a hideout. I killed the hideout leader: I'm sure you need to spare him to get a treasure map (?). If anyone grieves me, I hunt them across the map continually. This has happened three times and each time they left the session. Sure, it changes my game plan, but I like the challenge. This is the wild west after all.

When clearing hideouts as long as you kill everyone and loot all the bodies you have a chance of finding a map doesn't matter if it's the leader or not out of 10 hideouts I found 6 maps I've cleared more since then but haven't counted each one I'd say you have a 30% overall at getting treasure maps from hideouts

This is what I do, im a level 40 and I have people who are a way lower level than me kill me without warning so after that it begins. I go into my Clint Eastwood Unforgiven mode and start killing the griefers and they usually retreat into either new Austin or west Elizabeth

Skitch - oh, well. Just go and grab a couple more. 3 star Whitetail and Bucks are the easiest and best value for your time invested as they are nice and close to towns and butchers and are plentiful. $10 for a 3 star doe as skin/carcass/venison and $15 once the bucks parts are totaled. You get more for a cougar (about $18 all up) but they are dangerous and further afield than the deer. Do not forget to take the carcasses and load the side straps of your saddle with a couple of turkeys, rabbits, racoons etc. They may only be a few dollars but should just be incidentals in your hunting. The area to the West and South of Rhodes is great for this and you will find a small dock which offers plenty of Large and Small mouth bass, and steelheads, just to pad the hunt out a bit with some fish. Blackwater and St Denis both offer good locations for fishing for larger fish and getting them to the butcher. 7-10 dollars per, and you can carry one whilst your horse carries another.

I love rdr online. I absolutely love destroying griefers. I remember I was in valentine and two griefers tried to hogtie me. I killed the one that tried to hogtie me and his posse member came and I shot him in the head also. I then murdered them repeatedly and killed one of their horses. Whenever I see someone with a rope I just kill them... I don’t ask questions I just kill. Serving justice is all I’m about.

That’s not how the term beta works, they made a huge game for just story alone and spending time to get online out fully would have add months to the release date, they decided to update as time goes by rather than delaying the release date, rather than being a selfish fuckwit take time to consider how hard it would be to perfect the game before it came out, they can’t consider playtime early on. The online mode will be fixed soon and them taking there time is better rather than people rushing them and leaving the game full of bugs still

@@user-nh1xu1ky8g yep very good, it's pretty fats, it has good damage and a decent range, also it's the most accurate of all repeaters, if you want the repeater with more damage there's the litchfield but it's very inaccurate, the lancaster has 14 bullets, it has a decemt reload time, so if you're fighting in a village on medium distance the lancaster is a good choice, you can use it also in open spaces or woods, in a shorter range you can use sawed-off sgotgun, double barrel or pump action

I wonder what the deal is with most of the R* Online community. They seem to be *always* aggresive when a stranger comes near them. I've seen this behavior in Gta Online aswell. They instantly pull out their guns and they are always ready to fight back as if they have massive trust issues..? I played RD:Online yesterday and there was a player riding the train. So in my intention i would like to ride the train with him since it was going towards Saint Denis. I hop on the train (not even having my weapons drawn) and this player stops the train, turned around and just started shooting at me.. I come from the oldage weird but friendly TF2 community where players would unite to make friends with the enemy team. Every community has toxic players and I understand that but the R* community just doesn't have that air of friendliness for strangers to it. Maybe i'm too friendly for this game? I'm always trying to make friends and become quite shocked when someone just shoots me in the face in cold blood when I'm weaving for a friendly encounter.

lol Rockstar should do a similar thing to the police like in GTA:V...griefing and general acts of violence gets you wanted by the sheriff first...then us marshalls...then pinkertons, and finally a full us calvary detachment will come for you...each level not only leads possible death for the player but also a nice fine...starting out at say 10% of total funds all the way up to 60%....to prevent repeat offenders, its a cumulative effect, say 4x the sheriff...then 4x the marshalls etc...every 30days levels will reset but once you reach a step, thats were you will be for the 30 days (from initial penalty to end not calendar days)...combine this with an 'invite to duel' option to avoid penalties for those who do want to just battle each other.

@@thethinking1 harsh, but the only way to really curb the behavior is to make the punishment very extreme...the punishment has got to be harsh because bad players and griefing not only ruins the game for those wanting to enjoy the work the developers put into making the game, it also creates a reputation which drives existing players out to other games and discourages new players - both of which effect RS bottom line...mabye even a last resort is to perma-ban a character to a bad sport server...so a bad player has a chance to loose the character they have worked to build up...but they can still create a new character and be welcome...however if they do it again - griefing to the point that their new character gets banned as well then now it should be an IP ban.

Personally I started the game, spent like an hour on my character than, I spent a day or two doing missions ONLY than, I did stuff with cosmetics and horses

There are so many griefers in online atm... especially if you play solo... it seems like such a waste of time and effort to me because, as you rightly pointed out, they get nothing for it. However, this just highlights their retarded mentality and no matter what pvp modes you offer these people they are only after the twisted satisfaction of annoying other players! What a sad existence. The only way of removing this from the game would be to offer two versions of freeroam, one where anything goes and one where there is no pvp. This is an option for a posse so why not the whole server? I am however still really enjoying the online in the main... it is so much fun with friends. We just need more stuff to do which I’m sure is on the way. 17 gold and $600 👍

Fun, you forgot that you can do things just because they are fun, no reward necessary. Im not killing you to annoy you, I'm role playing a bad guy that maybe wants your pelts or just wants to drown you in a river..... Playing games is all about having fun your right, we just have different views on what that is. I get your point man but you still seem to be struggling to understand my and many other gamers collective point... we do not want to play this game in that manner. As I suggested the only option is to offer two modes for open world, one where PVE players can just enjoy the game and do missions together etc etc and the other mode where you can all go round killing whoever the fuck you want to your hearts content. There's been plenty of suggestions to go play single player if that's what you want but that doesn't allow you to play with your friends or experience the new content that will be available in Online. That fact that none of the "griefers" actually understand this concept says it all really.

Yeah because absolutely ruining someone's playing time by ganging up on them 3 or 4, or fuck even 7 to 1, is "fun." Continuing to lasso them over and over and over, to down them then revive them just to down the person again to waste as much of their time as possible is "fun." The person you're doing that to paid money for their game too, and if they're not fighting back just trying to run away it's obvious they aren't enjoying your "fun." Some of these griefers can draw out a single death to be 5 minutes or even longer doing nothing more than purposely trying to ruin your game to see if they get some sort of rise out of you "for the lulz." So even trying to get to the 4 death limit even for the parlay option can be agonizing, then a lot of times they'll just wait 10 minutes and come back and do it again. And all the while all that shit is going on, you have your ears assaulted by a group of teenagers or squeakers reading through the insult dictionary trying to taunt you over VOIP, just to see if they get some sort of reaction out of them. I never realized delibertly trying to ruin something for another person, no matter what that something is, was fun. You said it yourself, it's a game and you play it how you want to, the people not wanting to be griefed into the ground are wanting to do whatever it is they're doing, not be PvPing at that moment. If I want to PvP, I go join a PvP session and actually get money and XP for it, not just waste ammo and time doing nothing but ruining someone else's game and wasting my own time. Most people don't want to be griefed wasting what play time they have by a bunch of overweight, antisocial introverts with no jobs who just sit on the couch 18 hours a day and get pleasure from schadenfreude and sadism. So sorry if I don't agree with that "because it's there, and it's fun" mentality.

I made the mistake of taking on red stranger missions. I didn't realise they all gave you dishonor points, until I finished my second one and made the connection of red meaning dishonor 😂

I had 26.88 gold but spent some of it on a horse. Toxic players are my pet peeve about online. I don’t think they’ll go away, but it would certainly help if they’d just stop. Don’t be afraid to report players because I do every time. I lost so much money due to losing kills and being killed. I especially get angry when toxic players dynamite my horse or shoot it dead. I’m glad rockstar charges $4 now, but honestly I don’t think it’s enough to get ppl to stop. I think players should be charged 1 gold every time they kill another players horse. I’ve heard so many other players get mad at toxic players for killing their horses too. It’s incredibly frustrating and I feel bad for those good players just trying to hustle to make a buck.

With the horse insurance, I recommended not getting it. Horse insurance costs around $160 or so, where as to get your horse back you only have to pay $4, and this is when your at fault for killing your horse. If another player kills your horse, they have to pay the $4, kind of like GTA Online. Also, if your on a mission, you wont have to pay for your horse to come back alive, because your horse will continually just come back during missions, and will be fine after the mission. I use my horse all the time, and the only time I have to pay the $4 is when my horse falls off a cliff or runs into a tree, which doesn’t even always kill the horse, and obviously other players killing my horse, which I don’t have to pay for. The $160 is not worth it, especially at the start of the game with cheap crappy horses, the only time I would 100% get it is when I’m much further in the game and have a super good horse I’m happy with and not going to change.
