I think automated construction and 3D printed construction will be the future considering the labor shortage we are experiencing in the American construction industry. Other countries are short on laborers as well especially in some that get seasonal natural disasters like typhoons and monsoons. Automated construction is on its way in, I cover some of the competing firms on my channel.

My concern with injecting CO2 into cement is that it will be released when the building is knocked down, so it's only really delaying the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere...

I am a Developer and I'm the reason you all are losing your Jobs. But dont worry I will be losing mine by 2060 or so and all jobs will be lost by 2100. This is not a bad thing, humans will be able to explore our planet with our curiosity and we will still be paid with Universal Basic Income. None of this is bad, Humans are not workers they are thinkers. We evolved to be intelligent and gather information. We will have more time for loved ones / hobbies / living more healthy and more fulfilled lives. It's called Democratic Socialism and it is the Future. You may disagree but your not a Developer working on AI are you... Or the Robots kill us... its 50 /50 Ps- Stop dropping your phone its telling the toaster...

Mind you, back in the early days when I was on the tools, building the form work for a 12 foot diameter, 14 feet high, spiral staircase using nothing but plywood and 4" x 2" was probably one of my most satisfying projects.

Yeah it looked like a great solution for such a repetitive task, does make you wonder about the jobs for these people. Suppose the machine wouldn't be applicable for quite a few cases like in high rise construction where space is so limited

Did you guys hear about the Opel Tower in Sydney Australia? Ten year old high-rise that severly cracked after residents heard loud cracking. Inspectors found significant damage and the building was evacuated. Still no tennants, and no timeline of repairs atm.

I think we've already reached the point of optimal adoption. Adding more robots to take on more tasks is not going to eliminate as many jobs as it will create. Programming robots in construction is going to be a horrendously complex coding task.

Perhaps in the future, a graphene-based quantum computer will be available at room temperature. This would increase the number of quantum bits to the required number for a true AI. And all this is predicted by 2050

Probably be a bit of initial chaos, as with all new things, plus the reticence of workers to accept new things, but eventually it will produce better and cheaper buildings - as to the concerns of loss of jobs, this too will sort itself out - remember the Ludites

Great video guys summarising for me some of the key things to look out for. We all know that there will be more including some left field things which will just show up overnight because thats how life is now. However this raises a number of issues for me and possibly for you......I think you're probably at least 5 years ahead of your time and where the majority of our sad risk adverse industry actually is. Not your fault and I know you cant fix that. You need to flag the growth points, the cutting edge, the drivers. But for me my daily concern and experience is the capability of supply chain, the awareness and drive of clients (or the lack of it!) and the really lower echelons of our industry, white van man/woman if you will. As an example and I say this every time I speak, getting people just to use 4P correctly is a real achievement, so connected job sites for some people may as well be on Dr Who. I like the new Dr Who. I know you guys can't change an industry on your own and I'm not asking you to, but I think people need to see the grit and reality of trying to put this into practice. An encouragement that says yes actually this is how we put this into practice, and yes you can do it too! A kety action area now is the end to end, concept to FM, demonstrating the value of digital to w=owners and operators. There a big story there that will give them skin and motivation in the implementation of this stuff. But that said great work as ever , all good wishes to the team, more please and I LOOOOOOOVE you guys! best J.

Kinetic paving is a crazy idea - a 5 minute back of envelope calc by any competent engineer will tell you that. It's far more likely that you'll see the widespread uptake of chocolate teapots.

It sounds like a cool idea, but the available energy is so small that there is little chance of the installed paving reaching embodied energy payback during its service lifetime, let alone financial payback. Added to that you have the risk that as experience of it increases, pedestrians may try to actively avoid it because it feels more tiring (or even unpleasant) to walk on, but whether that happens or not, the basic problem is that the numbers just don't add up... See if you can find actual daily Wh/m² data for the trials? It'll be *way* less than a PV panel, with no hope of ever approaching one in output or cost.

Augmented reality hardware is considerably more complex to engineer and manufacture over virtual reality. Most augmented reality systems are still very firmly left in the hands of the military and large, top caliber engineering firms because of their extreme costs and demand for near super computer like hardware just to work reliably. Give it another 5 years and augmented reality will be as affordable and usable as current day virtual reality gaming headsets.

Here is my single biggest question mark about construction sites: Who decides where and how the on-site material is stored? I mean every site begins with looooads of material being trucked in, put down and organised around the paths towards the access points on the structure. But from above, it always looks like it fell out of the sky. There's hardly ever any 90 degree angles and it seems arbitrary. The aerial views of construction sites in this video prove that. How does that happen? Is the process as organic as the results makes me think? "Just put it down where you deem it most sensible?"
