Hi, always run in to this problem after I finish washing my hair and I always want to do all these cute hair styles but I can't. See it I just wash and condition my hair and just let it air dry completely and don't do anything to it it'll shrink up to about 3 inches long and when stretched out my hair is 9 inches long at least . My hair type is 3C/4A. Now I've tried braiding it and then and taking out the next day and it looks quite nice, bu,t it's not the kind of curl I want. I've done it a few times and I'm able to do these hairstyles but it's just I want my hair to be able to look like yours when I'm doing it since we have the same hair type. I was wondering is your hair completely wet right now? If so, throughout the day does the hairstyle change because of the shrinkage, or do you not experienced shrinkage at all I really want some tips. Has ANYONE got ANY?! Sincerely, A troubled natural beginner😓

GIRL! I wish my hair stayed like this throughout the day! I am so glad you asked! My hair is usually 85-90% wet during my hairstyles videos because my hair is just easy to manage when it has moisture (aka when it is wet and has product). Trust me, you are NOT alone. Some tips: .Try the banding method which I love, it helps stretch your hair (I made a video on it) .Try putting a satin scarf on after you have done the styles, leaving it there for 15 mins or more. This lays your hair down at the top so the top of your curls can lay down more, therefore not shrinking back up .Try using gels, such as DevaCurl defining gel, EcoStyler etc. as well as hair creams and leave in conditioner (they help A LOT, check out my Natural Hair Routine video) But overall please don't let my wet hair deceive you. My curls does not look like this at the end of the day. I do experience shrinkage and more volume, but the hairstyles still look cute. Hope this helps! Maybe I'll do a video about this...

Oh ok! Thank you soooo much. I realized that the missing piece of the puzzle was GEL! I was always afraid to try it because I thought it would make my hair hard and flaky but I'm hearing really good things about to EcoStyler gel so I'll try it out for sure. Also that banding method sounds interesting I be sure to check it out! I can't wait for more videos new subscriber for sure! Mia Pena my hair is 3C/4A too and yes you really need gel to keep the curls, if not our hair will shrink up. The gel makes the hair defined. Braid outs are okay but sometimes it may not be as defined when it comes to the curls or kind of stiff. So gel, and maybe a diffuser

And yes practice makes perfect, it definitely took me a few tries at first :) But, for each style individually it can take anywhere from 5-15 mins. depending on the hairstyle and if I want to perfect it (babyhairs and remoisturizing my hair after). The hairstyles all together? It definitely takes a longer time...I would say a few hours bc I take mini breaks throughout lol. Hope this helps! 😊
