Love this video! Growing up as 1 of 9 kids I didn’t get to buy the cool clothes and latest trends but I always found creative ways to incorporate different clothing and household items into my outfits. This reminded me of that and how much I loved the creative aspect of making outfits out of what we had around the house. I’m inspired to reimagine my current wardrobe and look over all my clothes with a creative lens!

Another great hack video from Orly that I will be saving. Yeah some of these my be harder to manipulate on fuller shapes. Because I have rather large chest area it hard to wear clothing front to back. I tried it and the look was not so complimentary to the girls. Some I knew about but what blew my mind is the suspender hack. I thrift these because they have such wonderful prints and I plan on using them as suspenders on some looks with my trousers. Now it like hell yea, glad I thrifted some because this is going to be another great use for the ones with clips. Glad to see the family nearby while filming. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

Okay after 50-something years, I finally learned the reasoning behind bow tying. Let me see if I can explain. It’s all in which loop you start with - when you first cross the ties and cross them together, you will see there is one on top and one in bottom of what you are tying. If you make your first loop with the bottom tie, then the top tie has to come over the top, around and under to loop. If you first loop the top tie, then the bottom tie has to come under that, around and over the loop. Your bow will lay straight every time. Hope that makes sense. These are SOOOOO cool!
@amyjohnson75273 жыл бұрын
yes! I was going to say the same. It's hard to explain in writing but you did a good job!

You tackled a tough job & did it beautifully, Tammy!
@jojosewist89212 жыл бұрын
@Tammy Vaughan: Tammy good job putting reason in writing. If you try it with 2 different shoe laces or pieces of ribbon, you will see the ribbon/lace you make first cross on top with needs to be same lace/ribbon you make first loop with. Then bows will always be horizontal. Always works for me. I was taught this in 5th grade choir so we could tie the bow on our robes, and teacher wouldn't have to tie 30 bows before each performance.

Thanks for sharing these tips. I love the t-shirt knot hack and the belt and purse strap ones. I have a few t-shirts that I like to knot and I usually do one tail, take a small/thin hair elastic, wrap it once and then pull the tail only partway through the second time. It can then be arranged to look sort of like a rose. I also had a thin purse chain that I didn't use and I took it apart at some spots, linked beads to it, and made a long necklace.

Orly has a lot of styling expertise to share with us, but not sure her interest, background or focus will ever have much to do with ➡️minimizing⬅️ problem areas. She helps us solve other stuff. 😉 Her forte seems to be more on styling to glamour-up or elevate a look or more ordinary pieces with her 🍋fresh, casual California 🌊 , 🎬Hollywood , &/or some ✂️haute couture "design on dime" advice. Maybe even to learn to feel confident & joyful in our own skin. 💐I truly understand your plight. No matter, more or less "sand" on my hourglass figure ⏳, I've always struggled with wanting to minimize my natural fleshiness, exaggerated curves & long torso (that can actually give the impression my longer legs look stumpy🪵). Oh no 😱. 😖Always struggled w/tucking! Not only does it make me feel awkward & dorky, I've spent a lifetime trying to hide waistlines of bottoms I had to aggressively cinch in w/a belt (or use binder clips) in order to fit properly. 😯That issue only got worse when I had more weight on my tummy. 🆘 Understanding dynamics of body shape, proportion and balance is both an art & science that is critical to me. Learning about all the "visual rules" is helping me understand what tricks I can also employ to help off-set those guidelines I deliberately choose to break too. It really helps to train our eyes👀 by examining side x side images of how a skilled visual artist can tweak a look to make ANYONE seem taller, thinner & even more current. It's about principles that can be applied to all vs selling a specific style or fashion aesthetic. ✳️Chi @ Petite Dressing is a hilarious & smart trainer. I'm not short, but she's the only stylist I found to date who identified all my unique idiosyncrasies to do with my body shape & personal preferences. Found her to be highly compassionate, non-judgemental, & responsive to her viewers needs. ✳️Giedre Kavaliunaite is another KZbinr who uses Before & After outfit swaps using visual theories on body types, the "rule of thirds", & how to fool the eye about more pleasing proportions. 📲 In one of Giedre's videos, her lovely plus-size mom (🍎 figure) was her model proving that utilizing these same principles will work for one & all. ↕️Many more stylists who focus on ways to elongate a person's frame that offer brilliant visuals to support these theories. 🤗Keep in mind, it would be impossible to follow every fashion rule @ once. There is freedom to pick your priorities. Also, it's less about whether or not you want to follow the spirit of how they dress vs copying their actual clothes. 🍀Good luck on you style journey! 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I have news for you, in the nicest way possible. If you have a belly, people can see it regardless. Doing the tuck changes the lines of your outfit and creates better definition. Leaving the shirt untucked gives the look of wearing a dress over jeans with all the open space.
@MissAmeROCKana3 жыл бұрын
The side tuck is better for hiding my belly. The front tuck totally brings attention to it! But on the side, you get a bit of drape over the belly and attention is drawn more to the hip.
