I'm so surprised that there are only two comments here. This video is one of the best I have watched on youtube in that you are informative, concise and interesting! You've managed to cover a complicated subject in a few minutes and several times I found myself saying "Wow, amazing!" I'm a nurse but during my training - a long time ago- we never learned anything about the Vagus nerve - other than to say that we had one! Your links are beautifully listed and clear too. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into producing this and it shows! Thank you.

I'm very interested in this as my wife has FSHD and I wonder if this condition affects the vagus nerve and phrenic nerve.

Can the Vagus Nerve be overstimulated by a bowel movement ? I am so tired after a b.m. all I want to do is rest for hours !! All info shared is appreciated !! Thank You !!
@matthatson Жыл бұрын
The vagus nerve does innervate the colon so it is possible! I say if in doubt listen to your body… if it wants to rest then rest… but if it’s preventing you getting on with life please see your Medical Practitioner 😀

@@matthatson Thank You for your reply!! I do listen to my body and rest when this happens. But I still have obligations I have to keep. My Dr. doesn't have a clue how to help, nor has anyone else I have asked !!

I’m very interested to know if there are benefits or potential risks to stimulating the vagus nerve with Multiple Sclerosis? Especially with something like Neuvana? I saw your review for that product and am very interested in trying it if there’s no risks to triggering any MS complications.

Hi there thanks for your question. Vagus Nerve stimulation is *usually* beneficial for everyone, and I think that the natural stimulation of the Vagus should be part of everyone's wellbeing \ stress management practice. However with MS or any nervous system issue I would certainly check with your Medical Consultant before using electrical stimulation of the Vagus Nerve. Generally speaking when it comes to external stimulae, there's no free lunch. I would recommend trying Heartmath coherent breathing before investing in Neuvana. Learn more about coherent breathing here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5-2iqiuq9WaitE

Are there practitioners that can help my daughter who has ME/CFS, have you ever help someone with this illness? We live in Ohio, usa
@matthatson3 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie, thanks for your question! In addition to the support from your medical practitioner it would be worth exploring how a Heartmath Practitioner could help. My understanding is that Heart Rate Variability is normally low for CFS sufferers, suggesting impaired autonomic function. Heartmath practice will help improve this situation, as will other practices that improve vagal tone. I'm a Heartmath Coach but you can find other US based coaches here: certified.heartmath.com/. Hope that helps, Matt
