I was very surprised that no one noticed the shadows in the dancing minigame before! It's such a cool detail

Cif also wears glasses while in the judge seat, if I remember correctly. Another instance of 'Four-eyes'

Good catch on the dancing shadows, haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else! One of the two characters dancing in shadow has part of their hair up in a bun, and we've certainly seen that before.

whenever I take a deeper look, I see thing's I haven't seen before. I've been dissapointed by indie games that had devs that intentionally left a story a certain way. Void Stranger somehow keeps surprising me. It's doing so little to hide things, but it makes it feel so alive regardless of how little is being done.

I think there is some easy evidence to the dance shadows being Gray and the Queen based on the hairstyles, we see Gray's a little disheveled and the Queen has the same hairstyle as the form Tail takes when seen by Gray

OH NO!

If you don't talk to Tail as Gray, you can talk to her as Lillie. The dialogue then makes it VERY clear why Gray sees Tail like that.

Bee's face is also upside down because they walk backwards on all fours, with their stomach facing upwards. You can also see this in bee's large statue at the start of her area. Not sure why gor's face is upside down, though.

One thing I noticed while watching this video: the statue of He Majesty next to the stained glass window is in the exact same pose as the statue of Lord Add in B002, further solidifying their connection. On a side note, these lore videos have helped me so much in understanding this story. The story is very all over the place (which I find to be an amazing thing about the game in an artistical sence), but I had a very hard time in keeping track of the story. I could've played the game in Finnish to understand the story better but chose not to, so thank you so so much for painting the picture and pointing out these mindblowing details. Oh man I have never before loved a video game this much

Cif not only disguises herself as a lamp, but she also hides in plain sight. She appears with her back turned to us blending into the formation of guards during the flashback where Lily announces the marriage. You can only briefly catch her after the dialogue box disappears near the end of the flashback. Nice thing about this is that even if someone catches that extra guard appearing the first time, they won't even know it's Cif.
@lorgon1116 ай бұрын
And Cif also appears at the end of the scene where Gray teaches Lily to dance. I discuss both of those appearances in the final section of the 'story recap' video that's also part of this lore playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLHYAYMSbpcvsK6iQrm34Y4iqJJoJBHvNp

those were amazing catches, i've finished the game (like, 100% of everything) and never noticed most of the things you've shown, great work! hope you like the rest of the game!

Missing lamp, even if I played this game for my entire life I don't think I would have ever noticed this. Also all those castle chambers/corridors/prison feels so Chrono Trigger-like. Actually the majority of this game feels also like Pokemon - using HM Strentgh on rocks 😀

There's a surprising amount of Link's Awakening stuff as well, that I might try to show off in the future.

7:05 - excellent catch. To further the possible theory you're positing (assuming you're not already in the know), try pressing the pause menu as Grey when in front of a mimic (try the first one you meet, too). Also, I don't know if you've attempted to enter Grey's brand into a brand room yet... Do so as Grey, and see how she reacts to what she sees. (And finally, try punching what you see repeatedly in that room for one last clue.) Assuming you are in the know, and are simply posting videos in sync with your playthrough, know that I appreciate your uploads. Thanks again for introducing me to such a fascinating game.

I recall you arguing against the theory that Gray would be talking to the Queen at the Lilith ending, when the "too sophisticated for my taste" dialogue comes up. The argument was something along the lines of "Gray would call the queen Your Highness, instead of Your Majesty". But I just realized in this video, Gray says that it was "Her Majesty" who taught her how to dance. So, I guess that's proof that Gray is, in fact, talking to the queen in the mentioned dialogue, a flashback for Lily's true name
@lorgon1118 ай бұрын
To be clear, in the Lilith-naming cutscene, the words onscreen are "To be perfectly honest, Your Highness..." whereas Gray refers to the queen as "Her Majesty" in Lily's dance practice. That said, the argument for the other side has grown on me a bit, as many folks have commented about it; I still think I favor my original interpretation, but now I'm like 60-40 whereas previously I was like 95-5 odds of it being "correct".
@AmaiarAiramand8 ай бұрын
Ah, so it was I that got it mixed up, my mistake there, thanks for pointing it out. Your interpretation isn't bad at all and I do understand that if you believe it to be so, you must have your reasons. I've never seen anyone as meticulous and focused on details as you before, and in this game it's hard to find anything that doesn't feel deliberate, so I recognize your theory has validity. I want to ask though, since it just occurred to me. Could the "Your Highness" be referring actually to the King instead? We've admittedly hyperfocused on the mysterious queen and forgot that the King, as Lily's father, could also have the right to discuss the baby's name. And he does make a couple of appearances in the game already. Would it be possible for him to be also the one in that cutscene?

One issue here is that Mon also has three eyes.
@CrappyBlue8 ай бұрын
you *might* have mon and lev's eyes mixed up! *maybe*. this is just how i feel about it all the sets of eyes more closely resemble the lords' monstrous forms than their humanoid forms, and the left bottommost eyes on the star resemble mon's slim eyes on the tail of their centipede form, as seen when hitting it and after the battle. i think this is the most ambiguous of the visual associations to be made with the star, but i feel like lev's the more likely of the two to have wider eyes in that shot. that being said, having looked back at lev's monster form for my own reference... both of them have pretty slender eyes in these forms. who knows
@lorgon1118 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think I bounced around between three different eyeball-associations before deciding on the one I like best for the video; while the general intent of the storybook depiction is clear, the details are still perhaps a little ambiguous

Something about Gray's death kinda triggers me. Even if she died, we can se Add saving Lilith from an Egg ending, and vanishing Bee. That kept me thinking about what really happened to her. Also we can see her reuniting with Lilith at the end, in what looks like a dream. ¿is it a dream? Just wondering

Bruh what is the deal with all these regular games with very basic premises being these over-written convoluted meta riddled lore channel factory producing wastes of time. First it was Animal Well.. now its this crap. Its a fine puzzle game, that wears itself thin in something like less than an hour due to the lack of variation, finding out you can manipulate the interface, or not knowing what can teleport you to different floors is interesting, but totally esoteric design and has been done before. Falling kills you, something that is established with a whole short animated cinematic bonking you on the head about your death, so why on earth would you try falling in *random* areas after that? More personally, why is the game in monotone colors? LIke- like why? I don't care about the "stylistic choice" to put everything in gameboy pixel graphics, but if you're going to sap color from a freaking puzzle game, please get yourself checked clinically. Its ridiculous. This constant trend of aping Atari, Commodore64, Amiga, and other primitive displays of our technological infancy is so crude and uninteresting to me. There are better games in the same genre that look better than Void Stranger, or do I really have to bring up why "Chips Challenge" from Microsoft Entertainment pack circa Windows 3.1 days was more impactful due to actually containing COLOR? I despise this sort of presentation. Then channels come along and milk the "plot" parading it around as if the tiny nibbles of barely cohesive narrative are enough to keep people invested in it. I've played Solitaire games more interesting than this, and what's more is that I can easily alter the "deep and complex hidden meta of Solitaire" by using my mouse to click on the exit button when I'm done playing it instead of holding down a context sensitive button in a game that looks like a "Lite-Brite" filled with plain white bulbs.
