I remember before KZbin even existed (and therefore *way* before ASMR was a trend), I used to rewatch the LOTR bonus DVD content *just* to hear Alan's soft voice over and over. They were fascinating besides, but it was really all about Alan.

I remember as a teen listening to this commentary on the extended DVD cuts each night before bed. I didn't know what ASMR was back then but I understood the soothing power of this mans voice. Just hearing this now brings back such great memoires from 20 years ago. Thanks for this.

It's why I made this series. I don't get the asmr thing but like you, listened to his voice but got frustrated with skimming to find his next clip, so decided to edit all his chat, which I eventually uploaded, after noticing a few videos, thinking only 8 people would watch it!

A good time to find it! I started this with a one off in January! But several demanded i do the rest of the LOTR commentaries for more Alan! Omg Yaaassss. I used to watch the directors commentary version of lord of the rings because Alan Lee's voice gave me ASMR tingles....actually many of the others did too like John Howe and I think Dan Henna (might be getting that name wrong, can't remember now)...quite a few of them had great asmr voices...but then everytime someone louder would talk like the weta dude I was like noooooo shhhhhhh and patiently wait for Alan to start speaking again. Lol

This is a really nice video! I can only think of one thing that would have made it go from fantastic to heavenly, and that is this: Most of the time he talks about some specific drawing or some kind of artwork, so if that corresponding drawing would have appeared on screen as he talked about it, that would have been amazingly awesome. But I realize that would have taken a lot of work.

However this is the latest (maybe last) of a series of videos cobbled together from the extended dvds are footage is shown (but people have bemoaned their not long enough. Hence the mega length of this one, to help folk sleep!)

Bloody hell. They can be a pain in the ass! Its not an endorsement but I would recommend youtube premiere. A godsend being in lockdown as cuts all annoying ads out plus can download stuff at home and lwatch / isten to when out
