Mr. Bull is an interesting fellow. The way he speaks is so compelling even though I don't have any personal interest in Woodblock carving. His life story and Meaning of Life videos are classic ASMR but his well spoken nature and wisdom makes it so much more than that.

The introductory scene of the original has no audio, so I have recorded 'folly' audio and added it specifically for my viewers with asmr. Additionally, it has been edited to remove sounds and content that may interrupt the asmr experience for myself and my viewers. Finally it has been looped for viewers to fall asleep to. The publication of this content could thus be legally and ethically considered 'reappropriation,' which is to "employ or adapt (something) for a use different from its original purpose" or "reclaim or recover (something) for one's own use." Hey Pixel. Just so you know, Dave hasn’t monetised his KZbin videos and doesn’t currently collect ad revenue. I think he sees KZbin more as a way of promoting his business and sharing his passion for woodblock prints. I really don’t think he’d have a problem with this.

I would consider the content I have published here to fall under 'reappropriation,' which is to "employ or adapt (something) for a use different from its original purpose" or "reclaim or recover (something) for one's own use" - a form of creative expression that is valued and protected in our society. In this case, the original content has been reappropriated for use by asmr experiencers and heavily edited for that purpose. A 30 minute video was edited to 12 minutes, specifically to highlight asmr moments, fundamentally changing the original purpose and set to repeat for an hour for a completely different audience. Watching this doesn’t substitute the original video’s purpose or intent, and while I’m not a judge, if an edit of a KZbin video for comedy (ie change of purpose) using 100% reappropriated content was ruled as “quintessential fair use”, then so is this.
