Back in the 90's I did the World's Longest Mail Run, operated by Augustus Air. Departing from Port Augusta, SA. It hops it's way across the outback towns and cattle stations to as far north as Boulia, with 2 night accommodation at the Birdsville Pub. With each stop we got to chat with the station owners. Great flight and experience.

That really sounds like the ultimate outback milk run

9:37 to keep the Saab interior cool they will connect an air conditioning cart to the aircraft and the tube is connected to the duct at the rear of the passenger cabin from the baggage hold at rear of aircraft. Or they will keep the right hand engine running with the prop feathered during a quick stopover.

At Birdsville, we had a one-engine stop, and at Windorah, there was an air con cart, but it was still scorching hot

Fantastic. I flew the milk run from Caiirns to Mt Isa, then following morning to Brisbane. Was all so spectacular.

It definitely is. My only regret was that we didn’t get to do the lunch stop at the famous Birdsville Pub because it was too hot. The single engine had to stay running, and the pilot mentioned they usually stop there during the winter runs.

Great Video mate it's certainly a.must do. The other Milkrun Rex runs that I recommend is Mt Isa to Cairns that you mentioned,, it goes via Mornington Island so your technically of the northern coast of Australia

@@Electrotract Thanks mate! The Gulf Run to Cairns is definitely on my list for the next time I'm up that way.

Yes, I’ve done that flight 8 years ago. Mornington island is predominantly Indigenous, and a " Dry" region, meaning no alcohol whatsoever is allowed. If I remember well, it was about a 3-3.5hr flight from Cairns to Mornington Island. I remember stopping off a Burketown & Normanton, can’t recall Mt. Isa . On the flight back 5 days later, there were two police officers that boarded the flight with a detainee in cuffs, ( they May have boarded in Burketown) the sat at the back. The were the first to board & last to leave when we got to Cairns. Certainly an interesting flight, as it makes you appreciate how vast Australia is , and how some people really lead isolated lives on a farm.

@@paulsz6194 I definitely want to do that. It’s a great follow-up to the Western 2, passing through remote Indigenous towns before touching down in Cairns. At just 5 hours, it’s not as long as the other leg. People often forget that Australia is a continent, so travel distances can be quite extensive.

@@ktsaviation74 I think there was one more stop we made during the journey from Mornington Island to Cairns , but I just can’t remember the name of it. I went there for work. Mornington Island is a great place for fishing; if that’s your thing. The fish literally jump out of the water at sunset, but you have to be careful as there are Sharks & Croc’s ( croc’s in the evening when walking along the shore as well) so no one really swims In the ocean.

The adventures we offer for tourists in Australia. Have you considered travelling the train from Frankston to Stony Point in Victoria?

I hate it when someone refers to our Queensland capital as something related to Las Vegas.

I’m with you-I have no idea who came up with the name Bris Vegas.
