Hello there. I hear you on that. I definitely don’t prefer soil growing. I have a lint if different videos on setting plants up into water culture in this channel. I was only using water conditioner for the Calatheas. Fertilizer is used once the plants are showing new root/leaf growth, after they’ve acclimated. I use very diluted fertilizer - either orchid fertilizer or Maxigro. In the beginning I change out the water every day or two, just to keep it clean. Once the plant is growing in water I’d just top it off and flush completely about once a month. Good luck with your plant journey. Leca and/or lava rock work well too!!! 😃👍🏼🌱

For foliage houseplants, I fill to the base of the plant so all the roots are submerged. Then I refill when 1/4 of the water is gone. For orchids, I only submerge half of the roots in water, so they get enough oxygen.
