9 Levels of System of a Down riffs - easy to hard!
Time for some more levels of and this time it's some iconic riffs from Daron Malakian of SoaD.
What are your favourites and what do you find the hardest?
Gear - Dean Cadillac Select, String Source Emerald 11s, LTD B-254, UA-25EX interface, Logic X, , Steven Slate Drums, JBL305 monitors.
Full disclosure - the video and audio are done separately as it makes for a nicer video for all!

The scary part about daron is if he took more care of his tone with the riffs that man plays he would be in the numetal hall of fame where he belongs. Daron is so simple yet nuanced that I feel like his rhythm playing probably inspired a lot of the genre today. Without the weird factor system brought to the scene a lot the bands doing that today wouldn’t be here. Daron is a riff maestro

@@doomerius1300 The Iceman had its moment for sure on the first albums, for his “nu-metal” riffs. But I think his writing style completely changed on Mesmerize with the SG/ Acoustic combo in studio. It just brought out an entirely new style for them. Even on Scars On Broadway, Daron and John really are SOAD.

I also used to think it was super hard back when I was learning it. What made it easier for me was making a standard strumming pattern for the whole song: down, up, down, up. Even the solo can be played like that. Just the pre-chorus is different with eventual palm muttings, I do all downstrokes there. Once you get the rhythm right, you will love this song even more. It's probably my all time favorite to play, along with innervision, pluck and psycho
