I was so confused during the ending of our wives under the sea 😂 i wasn’t expecting the story to go that way (or even that genre type). Ended up loving it though.

same! but I liked that it wasn't predictable at all (:

Thanks for the recommendations ! I already did read the song of achilles, blue red and royal blue and the house on the cerulean sea (that I really loved). I wanted to discover more of what T J Klune wrote, and I almost fisished Brothersong, the last book of his Green Creek serie. Each tome is centered about one MLM couple and that's really a super awesome saga. I deeply love every character and would definitly recommend it.

amazing thanks so much for the recs!! I also heard that TJ Klune wrote a sequel to the Cerulean Sea book that comes out later this year!

My heart fell for The House In The Cerulean Sea.... our library picked it for the Big Read event (one book is picked every summer and there is a wrap up party in Sept or early Oct.) T.J. Klune joined everyone live on zoom for a reading and interview, chat. He was lovely. I've been wanting to read Our Wives Under The Sea... thank you for the reminder to put it back on my list to look out for

omg i'm so jel you managed to see his interview - that's amazing !! he writes such sweet stories so I can imagine he's a lovely guy! and yes it's a great book, quite spooky with magical realism!

my recent favourite lgbtq book is ‘the dove in the belly’ by jim grimsley! idk how popular or known it is tbh since i just randomly stumbled across it but something about it just resonated with me and i adored it! i can wholeheartedly recommend it :) also you can obviously do what you want but I personally like when you only include books you like and not necessarily popular ones because that way maybe more hidden gems can be found. though I do like being warned about what books not to read as well so it has its pros and cons haha
@katerinareem4 ай бұрын
ahh interesting, i've never heard of that book before but i'll check it out - thanks for the rec! and also thank you for letting me know re my liked books only, i do obvs love talking about books i like more but don't want to exclude all books by not talking about others as people have different likes! that's usually why i just flag whether i liked or disliked it, but i may only talk about liked books in future now (:

Since you like Call Me By Your Name, there's a new release coming soon called Anyone's Ghost by August Thompson, and it's so wonderful and pulls on the same heartstrings as CMBYN! I highly recommend it!!!

omg exciting!! I see it's coming out next month, I'll defintiely keep a look out for it - thanks for the rec!

I’m currently reading call me by your name and I’m honestly having the best time, the setting, the writing and just the overall vibe are immaculate. I’ve also read song of achilles, seven husbands, house on the cerulean sea, red white and royal blue and tihylttw. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them except the song of achilles, i just found it incredibly boring

I looooove CMBYN omg, glad you're having a wonderful time reading it! and fair enough on TSOA - I think I read it ages ago before greek mythology retellings started gaining popularity in literature so for me I found it really unique and interesting!

I read all your recs except McQuiston’s and dnf’d The Time War. For pride month, I read Tin Man which is so beloved by many. I didn’t quite share that same fondness but the writing is beautiful.

I admittedly clicked on this thinking I will know all of these because queer lit fic is one of my go-to genres but I still enjoyed how you talked about each of these. Our Wives Under the Sea is new to me and sounds quite intense and interesting!

oooo let me know your faves books in this genre - i'm searching for some new recs! and i think if you're a fan of magical realism then you'll love our wives under the sea - it's very different to anything i've read!

I really enjoyed Cerulean Sea, it tells a wonderful story with lots of great characters but learning where the author got the idea was a little iffy/icky. I kinda feel strange about it now. Feels a little like he's exploiting peoples trauma and making money off it. Though it could be looked at like something good coming from something awful it's just odd. I dunno how to truly feel about it haha
@katerinareem5 ай бұрын
I didn't realise it was based on the sixties scoop until now! I'm going to do more reading into it
@ChurchJables5 ай бұрын
@@katerinareem it’s quite possible he/they? had a valid explanation that I missed somewhere, definitely more looking into it on my part is needed too. Just that initial finding out makes me feel iffy about it
