When I was in Bali,Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia I always used cash only after my first visit. When I first traveled to Bali and used my credit card someone hacked me and was purchasing surf boards and jewelry in Australia with my card. My credit card company knew that it wasn’t me and notified me that my card had been hacked and I canceled my cc and had a new one sent to my permanent address. After that I used cash only. Plus it really gave me a good gage of how much money I had for a certain duration. While using the credit card you can actually forget about how much you are spending.

Thank you …I am going to Sri Lanka in March, and I saw your wonderful series there…and saw your dilemmas with the atms and getting $ out…also last time I used my debit card in Vietnam, the transaction fees with my Commonwealth bank debit card was huge each time! In addition, when you select your seat before traveling, they charge you for that. If you leave your seat selection open for them to select for you, you won’t be charged for seat selection. That’s only if you are traveling alone. In addition, selecting a business class at last minute at airline desk, can get you an upgrade with any additional fees.

I found it to be exhausting when fast traveling through different countries and cities. I prefer to stay longer at one place and get to know the area better.

I think when you add up monthly expenses of living in our own home it would probably be about the same as traveling. Though airfare would be the place we would need to budget for.
