I restarted my locs on the 11th of this month ❤️ prior to this I had thicker locs and they were almost 2 years old but I had a baby and postpartum shedding messed me up I took the time to cut my hair 🤷🏽‍♀️ grow it long enough to start my locs again and here we are 😂

They are looking good. Your hair is definitely growing. Like others mentioned, try palm rolling the flat locks. I’d also avoid the wigs. Also, your hair looks so good down. You’ll get more comfortable by embracing it.

For the hole in your loc(locs) you can use a crotchet hook (the brown one) and bring the hairs back together

The flat ones will fix themself. I had a lot but they are ok now. All the things you are worried about now will some be gone. I went through all of those..

Try wetting your flat locs and palm rolling them back and forth until you feel they are circular and make sure your hair is fully dry before laying on them or wrapping them up. Even if your hair is damp and you put on a wig it can cause flat locs

I just made it to 9 months on the 1st!! I have a huge problem with dryness too. I just stocked up oils, leave in conditioners! I just whipped up my own spray concoction and all😂I most def understand what you going through. Sis your locs are beautiful, trust the process♥️they're going to look gorgeous as they mature further 😁

I’m 6 months in with my DYI Micro Locs. I retain moisture with Rose water and oils. I spray every morning and sometimes at night.

Month 9 is rough for me too, I'm thinking of pretty much just leaving it under my silk hair cover, (I wear different headcovers over the silk when I go out) for the next 3 months, and try seldom spraying. Next retwist will probably be 3 months from now.

OMG your locs look JUST like mine and I'm 10 months in. I have been losing my mind because some of mine are thin and I have that exact same loc in the front that stick up and the ones in the back stay flipped up.😂😂 I keep hearing it's natural and that it's the process but it's driving me crazy. I wear wigs too so I think that's why the locs are thinning. We got this girl!

☁️☁️☁️ congrats at 9 months! Your locs look really good and you have length!! You can try styling your locs like braid or twist outs, pig tails so you can wear your hair out more often, it gives a different look. And I too have a few flat locs I was reading a few comments below as to how you get them but, I have never lay on wet locs they are always dry before I put my bonnet on. At first I thought it was the clip placement after a retwist because when I take the clips out my locs are flatten from where the clips were. But I guess there are a few things that can contribute to flat locs 🤷🏾‍♀️

thank you! i’ve tried so many styles lol but i think the length is really my issue. i sometimes wash my hair before bed and lay on my locs so that’s probably why it’s flat. the clip placement can cause it too if you leave it on for too long. you’re a real one 💖💖

@@Ashayshay oh ok, yea I try not to leave the clips in too long. And the rice water should grow your hair but it does leave your hair a little dry after. I used rice water when I was a loose natural, just add more moisture to your locs 😊 PS. moringa power also grow your hair I bought some from Amazon but the way I saw it was used for your hair on KZbin scares me because moringa is a green power and I’m scared that the green stuff won’t wash out of my locs lol But it has great benefits for your hair, skin and overall health.

Please be wary of loc extensions! I recently learned that the faux hair rubs against the shaft of your loc and can contribute to more thinning and shedding! It's slow but you'll see it if you wear them too long. Yannie the locologist has a few videos about clients who went through this. It might not apply to you, but just something to think about. 🥰☁️

Your flat locs could be because laying down on them when wet and the wig caps! Just palm roll to reshape them. One of my go to styles is putting all my hair up in a bun and wrapping the bun with faux locs

I’m about 10 months. My hair looks similar to yours. I would suggest to be careful not to protein overload your hair because it caused excess dryness, and brittleness. Use rice water sparingly because that could also be the cause of extreme dryness 😬

Hey girl. I’m 6 1/2 months in and I’m having some of the same things going on. I try keeping my hair moisturized but it’s difficult. I can’t quite figure out the best things to use. I also have some locs at the very back and 2 or 3 in the front that i worry about. I feel like they will snap off. I wait a month or so between retwisting but I’m think i should wait longer.

hey. congrats on 6.5 months! check out the “what’s in my spray bottle” and “how to moisturize your locs” videos on my channel. those are very detailed on how i keep my hair moisturized. i recommend moisturizing your hair every other day or every 2-3 days if that’s too much. you can also try leaving your hair out to steam in the shower. as for the weaker locs i would try to limit tension or even consider combining them if you are really concerned. also there is nothing wrong with waiting longer than a month between retwists. the longer the better honestly if you’re trying to thicken up your locs.

Also I asked my loctician about flat locs. She said that if your like laying on your locs while they are wet that can contribute to flat locs and also she said that the loc should be palm rolled all the way down at least in the beginning stages to ensure they are round. . But I think your locs look good. I think they are going to be so pretty once they have matured a little more. ❤️

“Call off the engagement y’all are not getting married!” I felt that being 3 mos in i be poppin locs too🥲😬🤣 BTW I did my second interlock and I’m not doing it anymore. I will be either retwisting or instalocking with crochet needle going forward. I don’t do rice water instead I do aloe juice mixed with rosewater and castor oil every 3 days water every other night when I do a braid out. Tip palm roll your locs too keep them from being flat also drink water and increase veggie and fruit intake to help with hair too.
