The closest you can get is with the swap teams options. Personally I’ll take a really bad team and swap them for something in league 4(England) and work my way up to champions league. I think that’s the best and most fun way to play.

I think EA's reason to sack you if you made a wage too high is because there was a glitch in FIFA 19 that you could offer them a really high wage, go in to the next season swap him or sell him and get his wage budget back to add to your transfer budget. Used this a few times and as a 2nd tier Spanish team had about 200 million after a few seasons.

A thing i think is very unrealistic in career mode is that when a team needs a replacement they will almost always go to the team your managing (if that team is near your level). For example one time i was doing my Bayern Munich career mode and i bought jadon sancho and dortmund want to sign my gnaby and when i rejected they wanted my leroy sane (that i signed previously) and when i rejected that offer dortmund never did an offer for any other winger to any club

This one player complained to the club that I wasn’t offering him a new contract despite the fact he already agreed to a pre-contract to a different club. The game wouldn’t even let me release him or offer a new contract. Also the player swap is one of the worst things in the game. My player could be worth $70 million and the player I want is valued at $60 million, but the club im offering the swap to wants an additional $30 million. Like come on! My player is worth more! And then worse, I have to end negotiations for the player. I should be able to offer a transfer fee if the swap doesn’t work!

You know what grinds my gears? There's basically no free agency. In the lower leagues, there are so many clubs who can't afford to pay transfer fees, so many clubs just release 5-10 players a year. But in FIFA, I can't make those realistic signings unless I do so on a pre-contract, because everyone's contract is automatically renewed each season. So if I'm managing Bristol Rovers, who in real life have a transfer kitty consisting of a 5 year old's piggy bank, I have to do all my business before the season even starts if I'm going to be realistic. Also,, to piggyback off of this, prospects in the prem with 70 potential should be willing to take pay cuts to play for a lower league side, but in FIFA, a 60 rated CB with 72 potential demands 20k a week or refuses to step down a league or two to play.

One frustrating thing I'm suffering with on my player career mode is, players playing out of position. I started a career mode as a striker for Newcastle United. Everything was great I played as a striker and then got loaned out to Alaves where I also played up front. Then I got the England call up where for some reason I played right-wing and Redmond or Sessegnon plays as a striker. Then I went back to Newcastle who have put me in centre midfield whilst new signing Davy Propper playing as a striker.

I had a very frustrating career mode , as I accepted jobs at bristol city I was given the objectives of reaching quarter finals of the FA ... but they were already eliminated prior of me on joining , meaning my only objective was being automatically promoted , I went undefeated for the entire season but I was fired because I had about 40+ players and I was not able to do anything about because I have already released players to its limit and no team sent offers for players I put on the transfer market so that meant low morality in the squad at the end of the day I was going to be promoted ... but I didn’t have the chance for it because I was sacked

Might have been Fifa 14 but the loan to buy was broken then. I brought in players on loan who would not normally be able to be loaned. This was because I offered several hundreds of millions of pounds as the transfer fee. So I basically got a top, top, player for a season and then refused to pay at the end of it. As opposed to the normal, when the player wouldn't go on loan at all. The big fee made all the difference. But yeah, with tweaks I'd love it back.
