Thanks! So I read the book a little ahead of what I'm composing to work out what I'm going to write and then I get it down in my notation software. After that I transfer the notes over to a DAW/music production software and try to make its synthetic instruments play the composition as realistically as possible. Then I mix and master it all to the best of my ability, usually learning things I should have previously done along the way.
