Agreed. Problem is we are trying to be a passing team meanwhile we have 2 great running backs. I swear we be throwing balls at 4th and 1 and it's not even necessary. Defense has its ups and downs. But overall offense is pretty good we just need to make smarter decisions at certain points and defense ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's questionable that's all I'll say. But a team like this won't win us a national championship hell it won't beat Ohio State

Looks like Illinois offensive line folded in the 2nd half, couldn't protect Altmyer against pass rush. Wouldn't be so bad if there was a run game to take the pressure off him, not sure what happened with that. Good game, better team won as it should. Hopefully Illinois fixes their problems, and I wish Penn State best of luck future games.

The unnecessary roughness call on #3 for Penn State was a nonsense call. The QB is a runner, so the WR is a blocker. Just because he’s not looking where he’s going doesn’t put the onus on the defender to avoid him as opposed to running him over. Rojas, #3, is making a straight line to the ball carrier, which is his right. He can run over whatever is in his way. Lazy call.

Illini fan here - May be the refs were making up for that bullshit pass interference that lead to Penn States 2nd TD. You at least have to make contact. I don't think either team can be happy with the refs. Someone else pointed out a blatant block in the back they missed - see 13:53. The better team won and we got a reality check on where we really are.

This game is one of those games that felt worse watching it live , when I watched it a little later it was surprising how good the defense looked and the run game was carrying the day. I was critical during the live game but I failed to recognize that Allar's arm was purposely not used much so they could pound the rock and get better at ball control so with what they got practice at today against a fairly good squad I believe this team actually took a huge step forward despite the injuries on each side of the ball they are now looking like they might actually become an elite team this year, my favorite moment is the intensity of Allar running into the end zone with the fatman and kicking his leg out like Tron did , Allar is growing up !

Fr. Honestly if Penn state had made those fgs I'd be more worried then I already was about tosu playing at Penn state. The running game is elite, allar is playing well, the defense is physical and talented. But, it's gonna be hard to score on tosu's defense and I suspect Penn state will have to settle for fg's at least a few times. If they don't make them, that could very well decide the game.

He doesn’t just go for it randomly, he knows when to go and it’s usually on 4th and short situations and has a whole set of plays for 4th and short. With these college coaches I don’t know what they’re thinking with these fake field goals (Virginia Tech), or going for it on 4th and long only down a possession (Illinois & Atlanta Falcons). It’s clear to me they’re just guessing at this point
