In the sixties there were no walls around Giza Plateau, no entrance fees. I have a black and white picture from 1965 when I and my beloved late parents drove up right to the Red Pyramid in our families 1957 Chevy Belair. I never got to go into the pyramids but my late mother told me she did enter one of the pyramids as a young girl. I must admit that I would be an easy mark for that driver and I would of paid what he initially asked for; I just don’t know how to haggle or it could be because 200 Egyptian pounds equal just 5 Canadian bucks. Perhaps that’s why they all “loved” me when I was in Egypt back in 2010; I was such a simp, as you tech savvy young people call people like me. Another informative video, as always, looking forward to next Sunday.
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Ah the Red Pyramid in Saqqara! Those pyramids are definitely something else, so far removed from everything but amazing to see! The Red Pyramid has a very pungent odor to it too 😅 I'm not familiar with the term simp, to be honest! I googled it after you wrote it here. But I think you aren't using it quite correctly, because after reading the definition, it seems to be more used for unreciprocated sexual feelings 😅 That's what I read anyways. I'm not extremely young either, kids these days are using a lot of terms I am unfamiliar with haha. Hope you have a great day Cherif 😊☀

@@Gventures I guess I am, someone online called me a simp once and I thought it was short for simpleton. I guess I am simpler than I thought. Absolutely agree! Touristic areas are never really a good reflection of a country or it's people. Most Egyptians are extremely friendly, welcoming, hospitable and kind, with no expectation for a return when they offer you something. Great vidoes as I watched several of your videos before embarked on our trip to Egypt. Just a comment on the taxi. My experience was so bad in Egypt that I would never go back just for that alone let alone any type of transport in Egypt. Even the Uber drivers ripped us off. So insane that this is how they treat locals and international tourist. Egypt was one of my bucket list and so grateful I was able to experience it. Have seen enought..as it met all my expectations except the services such as this.

Really! That is pretty wild, can you elaborate on this terrible experience that made you refuse to return to Egypt solely for that?! Hey there! Love your videos, you have an amazing channel I am headed to cairo with my brother and father in a week, and i was curious about prices. I love your video on 2024 prices, but now that the EGP value has changed since then i qm wondering what prices look like? For instance, that video and this video both have entrance to the Giza plateau at the same price (540 pounds). Is this common, or have most prices gone up since that past video? Thanks for any help!

No, the prices for most things are still the same since the prices 2024 video, maybe only a few EGP more now for certain items like a can of soda at a convenience shop (restaurants always charge more for soda or even water). Prices to the Pyramids are the same (make sure to bring a card, because most ancient sites and museums must be paid with a card!) I do plan on making another prices video eventually, since the EGP has stabilized a lot, but not sure when I'll get around to that. Thanks so much for your support! ❤ P.S. I wouldn't count on it. If you try to order an Uber once inside the Giza Plateau, they will have to pass through security and buy their own ticket, which I don't see anyone volunteering to do, in the chance you cancelled that ride or something. BUT. If you order an Uber or get a taxi to the restaurant, you can ask for them to wait while you are there, and they more than likely will, my taxi driver offered to wait but I told him no thanks. Of course, you will be paying them for their time while they are waiting, but Ubers in Egypt are really not that much, so if you're willing to pay them to do that, I am sure they will be willing to wait. Well, it's on the steeper end for what things normally cost in Egypt, but there are of course fancy restaurants in 5-star hotels that cost even more. But I wouldn't compare prices in other countries to prices in Egypt, as the economy, currency, wages, etc. are different. So while it might seem low for whatever country you are from and the worth of your currency, it is not very cheap for Egypt. Just so you are aware. But the food was delicious and like I said, it's overlooking the last remaining ancient wonder of the world, so it makes perfect sense that it is more expensive than normal. But if you take into consideration the cost of entering the complex, paying for the Uber ride and the ticket, etc., it's not really all that cheap.

@@Gventures - You made me giggle with your description of yourself!! In truth, I think you would make a great tour guide, Gisselle, with your depth of knowledge, your rapport with the locals, and your ability to have a fun time, no matter the subject matter!! But with this channel you have found the best outlet for your unique skills, and that's what all your viewers love to follow. 😀W..!

There's a warning on the UK website saying not to visit northern Giza bahara. I'm wary on whether to go or not.
@Gventures5 ай бұрын
What? That's ridiculous. There isn't an area in Egypt I am concerned about traveling in. The US has also had Egypt listed as a "level 3: reconsider travel" and has for the past FOURTEEN YEARS (maybe more) 🤣 So maybe take those warnings with a grain of salt. Where are you trying to go exactly that has you concerned? I've traveled all over the country on motorcycle and never had a problem anywhere

@@JC-ce8uw Oh these places are all extremely safe!!! Millions of tourists come to Egypt every year and these are the exact cities people visit. There is absolutely nothing to worry about, people are in all of these places as we speak having a good time.

@Gventures5 ай бұрын
Hello, it is expensive for Egypt, that's what I said. I wouldn't compare prices in other countries to prices in Egypt. Actually, you should never really compare countries, no matter what country it is. One country is completely different from another, including the state of their economy, laws, wages, worth of currency, etc.

we are sorry for the audacity of the driver, but I think you should've sat on the backseat. FYI, in Egypt, when a woman or a girl sets beside the drive, it might make the driver think that's cool or it won't be that difficult.

You must not have noticed, but I wrote in the subtitles that I sat up front so I could have a better view for filming. I've been living here in Egypt for 2.5 years and know it's better to sit in the back. Actually it's not just here in Egypt, MOST places in the world, the customer sits in the back 🤣 But him hitting on me had nothing to do with the fact that I sat in the front, it had everything to do with him being a creep. I've had plenty of drivers hit on me and I am always in the back, that does not stop them 😤
