For me the rarest V8 sedan is Holden VL commodore walkinshaw and i only know about the VL walkinshaw commodore is racing on homologation Group A touring car racing in Australia in 1980s and 1990s and racing against other group A race cars like Ford Sierra cosworth and also BMW E30 M3 and also Skyline GTR R32 even more.

If you’re going to include the firehawk, which was not really a manufacturer’s option package (more aftermarket) then you’d have to include the myriad of rare HDT cars from the 80s. HDT actually had secondary manufacturing approval (like AMG, Alpina etc) and sold completed new cars to buyers via Holden dealers. Some with low build numbers would be the VL Director, and even lower would be the Bathurst Aero. The HSV SV88 was built in low enough numbers to make it mid way on this list, but the performance side of things wasn’t that great.

@@sriley064 FPV were finished before the FGX was released, so no FPV FGXs. That’s why the motors for the FGX XR8 and limited run FGX XR8 sprints were assembled in the Geelong engine plant by Ford. But (fortunately?) the volume of Miami FGXs is too high to make this list. Prior to that, Prodrive/FPV at Campbellfield assembled the 5.0L V8 that was fitted to FPV FGs from Oct/nov 2010 and FG2 FPVs.

They did make 30 of the T30 VN HSVs. The Top 30 HSV dealers got them. It was a repeat of what Holden & HDT did 8 years prior with the VH SL/E T30, which was fitted with the VC HDT spec engine.

This information was from a hsv book with all the models in it,can't remember exactly name of book

I had a friend here in new zealand that bought 2 1996 hsv gtsr and the prices tanked he sold them at a big loss bet he wished he kept them now and i went to the adelaide grand prix 1i 1995 and when i left i bought a walkinshaw in melbourne for 20k and flew it back to new zealand someone stolen a year or so later and it was found in pieces very sad day they are worth a ton now

It's about the same as the Corvette 5.7V8 of the time. The ZR1 is an exception with the lotus tuned motor. All the 5.7L Holdens were about that power.
