Do people actually accomplish that task. That's a lot to perform to people who have tried and failed. Like say a four decade relationship that failed already. Possible maybe but I suppose that's a noble goal to shoot for in a relationship. Who is perfect? Certainly I'm not perfect so how could I learn to love and trust that much again or hold a mate to such high and lofty ideals (goals) that might offer an opportunity to a person who like myself is after all damaged goods? I wish I had seen this sooner in my past relationship. We were never official, and he would go back and forth, being close and intimate, to being almost avoiding. It was very painful and after 4 years it really damaged my self esteem and I had lost who I was. I loved him, and at the time I believe he loved me, but we weren't stable enough to be in a relationship. I wound up getting hurt in the end when he found someone else online and was using me for 4 months before I found out. It's still a struggle because i still want to be friends, but hes not putting effort into our friendship. I guess right now I'm just trying to get back everything I lost and rebuild myself piece by piece. Learn from me, and see the warning signs before you get caught up in this whirlwind.

It’s sad because whenever I think of my future I always picture myself alone. Whenever someone asks me if I’d want kids in the future I always say I’d probably adopt. But never have I once thought there’d be someone else with me to raise a child. (It’s weird, I know to be thinking of having kids when I’m only 16 but I’m always thinking about the future and what to do with my life so...) I suffer with self-love and I’m scared that if I ever entered a relationship I wouldn’t be able to make them happy. I live with a mother who is emotionally immature and I’m constantly tending to her needs and unable to express my emotions to her without her lashing out or thinking I’m blaming her. I feel the reason I feel is end up alone is because she doesn’t support me emotionally or with my day to day routines. She doesn’t get involved with school, I clean the whole house only to have her mess it up without any respect, and I feel as if she may have depression herself (but won’t talk about it). I’m trying to be supportive of her but it’s draining me mentally. Can someone tell me what to do to talk to her without her lashing out or making me feel horrible? I feel in order to solve my self-hatred I need to start from the source.

Misty, do some research on codependency and the narcissistic personality, because from what you wrote, it sounds like your mom may fit the description of both of these. If that's the case, take heart that you can break free. I've been there, and, while the going was very rough, I realized I need to live for myself: 1) If my mom wouldn't face her problems and at least try to fix them, and 2) I've already tried my best to help her (but ended up just being an enabler), then I just have to leave the situation and live my life. No one is obligated to take care of another (especially when they're been taken for granted), and parents who expect their child to live for them are sick and selfish.

Hey Misty, I know it's been a year, first of all I hope all is well. I was in a similar situation like you. I left my moms house almost 4 years ago, it was the best decision I ever made. I stayed in a motel and then looked for a basement to rent. During that time I still went to school and work. At first there was alot of guilt but in time I learned not to care. I was able to love myself and gain confidence. I suggest you do the same. You're in my prayers.

I can definitely relate to you. Only difference is my aunt does everything you described. (mom not present.) And in age I'm 19! Honestly as I was aging up I suffered with absolutely horrible, depression and insecurities. She was no help. No help at all. I genuinely thought I end up alone and just forced myself Into toxic relationship so I could feel loved but it only resulted in deepening my wounds. until I met this one guy that called me out and helped me improve my thinking and behavior and attitude. Open Everytime I needed him until I asked less and less. As you get older and gain more independence, things will reveal themselves to you and honestly you might develop some apathy towards your mum. It is not encouraged, but a possibilty. develop some more hobbies and try to get out of the house for a while to collect yourself and if you can, try to develop a friend circle or even a trusted friend to confide in so all these negative emotions do not consume you and change who you are as a person. Please don't let this beat you down. I don't know you but I am empathetic and can relate. If you can't do anything else just Stay. Strong.

I'm 25 and I've never been in a relationship . A lot of the reasons you mentioned in this vid can be applied on me . I don't want kids . I had a terrible relationship with my mother . My parents got divorced when i was 10 years old after a horrible marriage . I'm still searching for who am i . And I'm a doctor , my work is kinda stressful . My brother who was my best friend in this world passed away due to cancer . I'm not sad cuz I'm not in a relationship . I feel I'd live a better life if i was alone . the first one is very accurate...a guy confessed he was starting to like me and wanted to go out. I told him that I just got out of a long term relationship not too long ago. I don’t want to make it seem like I’m not interested, but I don’t want to force myself into something I’m not ready to do. My ex left me, and moved on fairly quickly. Just because someone comes in my life, I’m not going to take that as an opportunity to show off. I need my time to move on, and love when I’m ready. Which isn’t yet. The guy that likes me is kind, and I don’t want him too be broken hearted by me. The least thing I’m trying to do is break someone’s heart, because mines is still broken.

The first reason is why my first relationship ended so quickly. We both felt a really strong bond when we met and we quickly (and regretfully) started a relationship. The second week of our relationship, she said that her ex had messaged her and it started to confuse her and that we should break up. I unwillingly agreed and tried to get over her ex with 2 other guys (to no avail) and now she's back with her ex in a long distance relationship. So yeah, my love life sucks

I think it's always worth it, when you feel ready :-P The moment I confessed to my crush, I told it to a few people and someone said to me something in the lines of "Oh, she's doesn't know what she (my crush) is missing. I didn't know that guys who genuinly love and care about someone so much do still exist." To this day, these words still come me to mind sometimes and I thought about it when I read your comment as well. What you said isn't something many guys would do, I think, turning down a beautiful girl (for whom they maybe have feelings) because they know that they themselves aren't ready yet. It's a very humble thing to say and it shows you care a lot about the people (maybe especially girls) who you get around you or get close to. Wonderful

I let someone go even though I know that they were good for me. I regret it so much. Part of me felt as if he were a friend. The other part genuinely loved him. And I knew I was becoming a better person because of him. But because of my depression and my suicidal thoughts, I didn’t think I was good enough. It was a too good to be true relationship that made me think that something bad was gonna happen. So I ended it. Because I was afraid of getting hurt in turn. I was traumatized from my past, and I’m so upset I let it get to me.

I find it very depressing to see how far from real love relationships are today and how media has twisted our view on them... *Its not love if you don't care about one another.* Most people today care more about fulfilling their sexual desires than emotional ones. Your partner should't be a person you like looking at and f ing, but a person you love spendung time with because you both enjoy same things and each other's presence, energy and sense of humor (which takes time to build, not installing dating app or going to a party/bar). When this happens, you automatically care about each other and tick all the necessary boxes for true love. That's what relationships should be all about, not some kind of a business agreement and ticking boxes that all the media (including this channel) is portraying it to be. There are no other rules. If someone "isn't ready" to be in a relationship and you both love each other, then ofcourse you'll do everything in your power to try and help him overcome everythingthing that is mentioned in this video, lol. If you don't feel the urge to help the person you think you love, then you probably don't truly love that person, at least not at the current moment. You don't need any other more complicated rules other than this one to distinguish wether you're ready for relationship or not

one guy from my college confessed to me. This hits me so hard. While I may be in a healthy, happy relationship with the one I love, right now...last year I experienced that kind of behaviour described in the video, from my previous crush. It was really heartbreaking to have someone liking you, but refusing to have a relationship at all costs. (I could recognise him in "commitment issues & too much stress since he works alot and it really takes a toll on him) Now that I've looked back on that time, on how we communicated with each other, I understand why he made that choice. This type of content is really important because some people just don't understand why someone might not want to date them. In their heads, it's either because the other person doesn't like them or is acting out, there can't be another reason. They might even assume the love interest is being bitchy, cold hearted and or playing hard to get, without even thinking that maybe the other person isn't ready for that kind of commitment

Story time. Grab some popcorn/bowl of cereal if it's morning for you. Ever since I was able to speak, I had a really aggressive stuttering issue that's carried to my young adulthood. There carries a heavy stigma with stuttering problems such as bullying, miscommunication, and general lack of confidence in my overall character. But no matter what the trial was, I always managed to get back up regardless of the situation. However, all of that is going to chance soon. See, I was blessed to be afforded this device in my ear where, once I place it inside my ear, it will pick every sound around me and will generate it in a slight delay. This, for whatever reason, caused my stuttering to go completely away within use. I had a trail of it this past week and it felt like I got my voice back for the first time in my life. The one I will buy will be delivered within a few weeks. With all of that being said, I'm hoping with the boost in confidence the ear piece directly has on me, since now I will be able to speak clearly, dating won't be such a chore, (I.E approach anxiety, trying not to sound silly in front of anyone, not sounding confidence) and every other facet of my life would be much more smoother in the the long run. That is why I think I'm not ready to date/ having been getting any dates. My stuttering really has held me back but now, I think I have an opportunity to really improve not only my relationships status, but my overall life as well. Sorry for the long reply, I was hoping that my story would carry some correlation with the video is on. Have a nice day/afternoon/ evening.

I’m 36 and physically disabled, I’ve had to realize the rules are different for me. People love me until I ask for compromise or speak up for myself, then they throw me away. I’ve done tremendous work on myself in therapy but I realize none of it matters because unless people start treating me like an equal, nothing will change. My ex has bpd (borderline) and I love her dearly but I realized we will never work because she doesn’t know how to handle conflict and is unwilling to compromise. We have shared values but I think she’s scared of commitment and stability, although she says she wants it. In summation, people don’t treat disabled people as equals and it takes a lot more than love to make a relationship work.
