Great tips! When applying sunscreen it’s important to apply the recommended amount to get the SPF you want. For example, if you are using an SPF 30 and apply lightly, you may only be getting an SPF 15. I’ve had basal cell carcinoma on my face which required Mohs surgery so SPF application is extremely important to me!

I agree. I had the Mohs procedure done it's no fun. I wear an SPF 50.

Kay, thanks for these tips. For many years I had a job working with the public, and makeup was part of my work persona. Then I transferred to a job which was not customer facing, and my makeup became tinted sunscreen and undereye concealer. It was so liberating!

Great tips Kay, especially about brush cleaning. I used to purchase specific brush-cleaning soaps, then about a year ago one of the other influencers I follow suggested Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap for cleaning brushes and I find it works better than anything I’ve used prior.

How blessed we are to have innovative technics and advanced products come alongside the basics to make us even more lovely. I am all for more beauty in 2022!

Great job explaining good skincare before makeup. 💄 I'm an Esthetician & a professional makeup artist & I explain this all the time w/ my clients. 💜 I definitely going to order that makeup brush cleaner haven't been happy with the stuff I've been using.
@daynad81042 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use it, especially if you have expensive, top quality brushes. The ingredients are flammable, which means it could seriously damage your brushes. I use Dr. Bonner's Castile liquid soap. It's all natural, cleans very well, and won't damage my brushes.

Ladies! I highly recommend the Tinkle razors to get rid of peach fuzz on face! They are affordable, quick & easy to use! My cheeks feel so smooth & it also helps to exfoliate dead skin cells off. I feel like it makes my face appear smother, brighter, and most importantly more youthful!!!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday! Thank you for the tips and product recommendations. I would add that dermatologists say we should use 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon of sunscreen on our face every day for skin cancer prevention. So that would be an exception to one of your tips. It feels like a lot! But if you find a good one it does melt in if you give it a few minutes.

I was recently told by a skin professional that the older we get we want to avoid the grainy scrubs for our face as it can tend to scratch the skin… so something grain free might be a consideration. Btw - love all you’re putting out there…

Since I retired I rarely have a need to apply a full make up, I do however continue with cleaning regimen and moisturizer. I have recently found a sunscreen that is tinted by Avene that is wonderfully silky as it goes on, some powder and I'm done. After watching this I'm going to replace some brushes and order the brush cleanser you recommend. After all I still go out for "date nights" with my gals and want to look pulled together 😊 thank you Kay for rhe tips ❤

Hi Kay! Nancy here. What kind of finishing powder do you use over foundation? I like deep finish, but the powder takes the look away. No powder?
@pamb28682 жыл бұрын
When I was younger, I never used any kind of primer. Now, it’s a must. I don’t use it with mascara. I have to use waterproof, my eyes water a lot, and are very sensitive. Most days I don’t even wear makeup. I’m hoping to get my hair cut tomorrow. And then I may start wearing more makeup. Right now my hair is crazy, wild mess. But when I just stay home I usually don’t bother. My husband and my dogs don’t care if I have makeup on. This was very informative. I probably need to invest in better brushes. I have a lot, but most of them were cheap. I did throw away all my old makeup and buy new, since I hadn’t worn it for years. But I’m getting older and could use the help of makeup. I know my mom never left the house without lipstick on.

Happy Birthday Kay! Thanks for the video and I have a question -- how often would you say you dermaplane? I've done it several times and love how it makes my face feel, but am unsure how often I need to do it.

I know almost nothing about skincare and makeup, but I did get a nice set of new makeup a year ago from a Lancôme sales lady at my nearby Macys. Thanks for your insight, and I hear it’s your birthday, so Happy Birthday!🧁

Some good tips - but I would suggest cleaning your brushes once a week, and I think there are beauty sponges that are just as good as the Beauty Blender, especially the Real Techniques one with a flat side. Another tip would be to use a setting spray after finishing your makeup - it takes away any overly powdery look, and in my experience makes my makeup last longer. It doesn't have to be expensive - the ELF makeup mist is the best one IMHO! I do shave (derma plane) my face, and it does make a difference in the foundation application, but it grows back quickly in my experience, and I have to do it at least every 2 weeks.

Happy Birthday Kay! I just want to mention that I have tried dermaplaning my face a few times. I've also tried a few different kinds of serums this past year and they burn my face even with the first application. I was told this could happen from shaving my face. So because of that I have shied away from a skin care regime involving serum or retinal. I know I need it but not sure what to do now.
@janettebolin29912 жыл бұрын
I only apply moisturizer after derma planing and I only do it every 2-3 weeks. Hope that helps!
@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms2 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Might be worth talking to a dermatologist about. I’m certainly no expert. 😌
@Stephanie-rf9xs2 жыл бұрын
You sound like me as I have extremely sensitive skin. I was told NEVER to use retinal because it would burn my delicate facial skin. I can’t use anything with collagen in it either because I will react to it! I use Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Skin Care Line, which has worked wonders for me. Again, I stay away from anything with retinal or collagen because of severe reactions to those ingredients. Overall, I am not fond of makeup because of my sensitive skin issues, but I do maintain my skin. I have been to dermatologists in the past to diagnose my skin issues only to be told I have very sensitive skin! I hope this helps a bit because I feel as if I have rambled too much!

Skin care for females should start around age 12, using a good cleanser and moisturizer FROM THE SAME COMPANY! All companies formulate their cleansers and moisturizers to work together, not good to mix brands of these two. Eye cream should be used starting around age 18.
@b.b73052 жыл бұрын
I don't find that to be true, all moisturizers don't have anything to do with a cleanser they clean your skin and then are washed off.
