As a splitboarder myself I'm actually getting a AT ski setup for my first time this winter. Personally I think skis are a better tool for the backcountry, although I snowboard way better than I ski lol. My partner and I's favorite tip would be have 2 way radios for communication. Great video, those poles like nice! Cheers

Yeah man I think about getting a ski set up every time I take my splitboard out with other skiers 😂 great tip with the radios. Just picked some up actually!

I bought the burton hitchhikers a year ago. They have a new system where you just flip the angle thingy over to mountaineering mode. This way you don't have to remember what angle you are using. Just flip it back again. However, i do have a issue with the glue from my skins sticking to my base. What could be a reason for this?
@ChadLubinski Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that! It could be due to leaving the skins on for too long such as overnight

Some great tips; a daft question how do you remember the angle of the highback adjuster when switching back to ride mode?
@ChadLubinski10 ай бұрын
That’s a good question - right now I’ve been riding with no angle (so keeping them in walk mode) on the way down so hasn’t been an issue. Otherwise I was just kinda guessing haha

Good tips! Thank you for that! A purely informative question: What length board do you ride? In the video the board looks pretty short.
@ChadLubinski11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I rode a 159 for awhile but just switched to a 155. The 159 was good in powder but such a lug on the uphill. The 155 feels 30% lighter

The info is good but I think you should be demonstrating out in the field with wind and snow everywhere. A lot easier to do in your living room
@ChadLubinski27 күн бұрын
That's fair but a video with wind and snow would be horrible to watch due to sound and visibility
@mikepatrick201114 күн бұрын
@ChadLubinski the reason I mention this is because many days scraping the snow of all the nooks and crannies is a big part of the routine and adding tips on how to do this when the wind is howling and the terrain is steep is more realistic than in the comfort, light, and temperature of your home. Just thoughts, good stuff here.

Poles: Dont use these crap things - they will break and almost all of them are flimsy af. Just get some sturdy hiking poles with some snow baskets for them. Packing them *in* your bag is actually dumb cause you almost always need em. Strap em to the side of your pack with 1 of the 10293029 straps every backpack has...
@ChadLubinski25 күн бұрын
Yes you need to get expensive poles so they don't break. I honestly don't like the side of the pack because i fear I'll lose them. To each their own.
@maguilecutty25 күн бұрын
@ I’ve broken 3 sets of those crappy poles u recommend. Cheap poles normally mean 5gms heavier not worse qaulity. Mine are I think the cheapest leki hiking poles I could find w snow baskets, maybe cost 40€ and have lasted 2 seasons now. To stop losing ur poles loop ur strap through the hand loop on the pole and synch the other tightly several times around where the basket meets the pole. I’ve taken 50m cartwheel stacks and never lost a pole

@@maguilecutty you’ve broke three of those G3 poles? That’s insane dude lol

Why do you hate ppl with solid poles? What is the point of alienating people still trying to get there gear together

Guess i missed the part where I said I "hate" people with solid poles
