I agree 100%. The map of FH2 was beautiful. The mountain landscape along the coast and the small villages and towns in the middle were just cool. I don't need to mention the road trips between the "chapters". It really gave you a sense of progression. FH5 feels like it has an identity crisis, because the franchise is becoming more and more of a mass product and the developers want to please everyone. Unfortunately, you can see this in every corner of the game. It started with 3 and can no longer be overlooked in 5.

Completely agree with you. Whenever I play fh2 I'm always in awe of its beauty. Those roads feel soooo good; they genuinely feel special. In FH5, I just login once a week to get the new cars from playlists and that's all. FH5 feels more panicky whereas FH2 was very relaxing. I do feel that the games should have a reset button so that we can experience the game from start whenever we want. I miss that in FH and FM games. Sometimes I don't wanna compete online and just want to feel good by progressing through the story mode

I re-started FH5, gave up everything I had built up, all for one reason. I hate the driftzone banners, they ruin the immersion for me. In FH4, I only opened 2 drift zones, one paved and one dirt, everywhere else my map was clean of banners. In FH5, as soon as you open the Dirt festival, every driftzone in the game lights up, banners everywhere. Biggest drawback to this is no Trial, so no playlist cars for me. No regrets.

Horizon 2 was the best Horizon game, you can't change my mind! Like, remember Bucket List Challenges? Or the roadtrips from one town to another? Yeah, you had to cruise with others from one place to another, no fast travelling. The showcase events were unique, the new games just recycle The same ones we saw before. The ballon race, the airplane race with the italian colors in the sky, and the train race with the classic Alfa Romeo!? Or the map? The docks where everyone was drifting, the mountain roads of Nice, the airfield... The car list was outstanding for the time: we had brand new exotics, but everyday cars too! Just the vibes man, the way the sun was setting and the brightly lit city lights at night, winding roads, and the huge graphical upgrade from Xbox 360 to One! You had to chose championships and you had to use one or two cars for it, no jumping from a Jeep to an offroad Lamborghini. No flashy, but useless features like clothes, like absurdly huge jumps... Just a proper car game with banging music festivals and picturesque locations! Wish the Horizon games gone back to this, not appeal to the 6-8 year olds... It sure would sell better!

Totally agree. It’s way too arcadey p.s the fact I cannot get a connection with the cars is one of the biggest problems with Forza Horzion. They lost track of what makes A car special for a person p.s.2 that interior view is incredible. I never got Horizon 2, and the driving roads are making me jealous. Closest thing in Horizon 3 is Great Ocean Road, it's by the ocean with sailboats next to a cliff but it's much shorter and has a speed zone, but it's good for sunrise photos

Progression is so important in racing games imo, the old GT and Forza Motorsport games had it perfect. You feel like you earn the cars and therefore value and enjoy them more. Getting free cars everyday is silly.

I think what we need is a Horizon game set not in a desert or forest, where you are a racer who races for like 10 hours or so and then after that you become a festival boss where you can upgrade and grow out the festival further and bigger. The car models have got to be upgraded to their current versions rather than the 2010s version. All this could make a true 10/10 game

Man I still got fh2 on the 2013 Xbox one and man I miss it I loved the city the modern airport I miss the vibes from this game. And this even had NOS if I’m not wrong with fast and furious expansion. And I like the way that they were cars parked on the side of the roads so you could steal them the super cars for a time trial. That was just amazing

In my eyes Horizon is supposed to be a Open Wheel Motorsport game with an immersive map feel and true holiday festival vibe. All of that has seem to be gone down the drink and now its just an Arcade Game with no real achievements to be made. FH5 even though its great, will be the last Horizon I've bought until they really pull off something FH2 like. So in that sense its my farewell to the Horizon series, FH5 seemed to be so promising but in the end it just doesnt do it for me

You can only play digital games on the series s. It doesn't have a disk drive so you won't be able to play fh2 unless you get a digital code for it which is difficult because the game was delisted almost 4 years ago.

This game was not only amazing but it hit at the right time too, there will never be another time like that for car people. The biggest show in the world was Top Gear and we got a game with very Top Gear like challenges, in locations similar to their most epic driving scenes in the series with the test track appearing on Motorsport. Then we get Storm Island DLC, soo good and almost good enough to be a stand alone game from a console generation earlier. Then the FREE Fast and Furious DLC 7 months after release providing a big boost of unique desirable and fun cars. We were able to bridge the gap between Jeremy Clarkson getting sacked to the Grand Tour with Forza Horizon 2.

FH2 and FH1 is the very Horizon games for Forza so far, well, actually also FH3 because I can still feel the Horizon vibe, and they even did the director progression better because they give us freedom to level up the festival, but yeah, I'm still wishing the festival vibe would be there, at least in cutscene, not just as background. And yes, the coastal area of FH2 is just a perfect Forza location, not even Japan could be perfect, if I can say it. Also FH2 have multiple city, makes the road trip feels like actual road trip, I miss them

I just love the way there are so many different cities around the map. It feels like a journey to go from any city to any other, even if it's a really short distance like from Nice to Saint Martin and that made the map feel gigantic. Then the new maps just feel like they're 80% filler without the cities dotted around, as they feel like they have a purpose as opposed to 'straight road #284'

Forza Horizon did loose a lot of it's soul when it made you festival boss from the start. I also love FH5 but I agree with pretty much everything said here! I don't need 500 cars in the game ever, and certainly not from the start and customization is fun but when you can make most cars very similar to drive I think there is too much customization allowed. Sure you can put a S2 class engine in a VW Beetle but it should be undriveable at even moderate speeds.

You can change fov and camera shake in settings if you want more sense of speed, having more car options is almost never a bad thing cause if you want a car connection then you can just pick your favorite, the physics outside of hotwheels in horizon 5 are more realistic than those in fh2 so even if it feels less arcadey it is more arcadey, the fh map has nice driving roads too they just also have more high speed roads because otherwise such a large map would be impossible to navigate, I personally hate over cut scened games but that is personal opinion, but I agree with festival vibes, also the wheelspin mechanic is way better IMO in fh5 simply in hud and how it works just cause you dont care about clothes doesn't mean some people dont they also just dont come up super often in wheelspins, generally having play all of the horizons since fh2 I think that fh5 is objectively the best one in alsmot every sense but peoples nostalgia and like of one type of terrain takes away from there appreciation of all the improvements as well as the variety in the map. Just generally this video felt like after festivals and roads you were just reaching for one more thing to complain about to get the video to 10 minutes instead of actually having 8 or 9 actual complaints

Except the location, I personally agree with all of the points. As to why I disagree about the location; I believe there's great roads in every country, not just Europe, only that the great driving roads in Europe are much more popular and much more publicized than the great driving roads in other continents. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful; but I wouldn't call it the best. I guess the true reason I felt that way is because I feel like it's a very Eurocentric thinking, in a world full of Eurocentric beliefs, I feel like we need to celebrate the beauty of other continents too rather than seeing the world from a purely European point of view. That being said, I still think it's a good map. And the video itself is pretty good, pat yourself in the back, Yuwan Thayakaran. Also FH6 needs to be set in -Japan- Malaysia, because diversity (albeit less publicized because Japan ate up all the attention)

ive played fh2 and fh3, and personally, those 2 forza horizon games, the citys accutally suit supercars

Same... it had by far the most "horizon" feel of them all and i think it still is the best horizon... loved it... same goes for horizon 1 ..but cant say the same for 3,4 and 5 .. they are not bad games at all...but its just missing something special those two had... it is less and less horizon and more and more track mania :D

If fh2 was released on PC that would be probably the greatest forza horizon game in the whole series cus i dont have a console i dont know how fh2 works but from what people says and tbh by myself what i have seen from videos is very beautiful game

In my opinion, a remastered FH1 with the new Forza features (like wheel spins and bucket lists) and better graphic with new cars would be the best. The only things it lacked were diversity as it was all basically desert and lack of drivable area as all the barriers were impossible to break and there was only like one or two off-road areas (the golf course and the weird area next to a factory north of the festival) and I know they circumvented this by adding Horizon rally dlc but the dlc had no open world/map expansion, you would just choose a race and do it.

I think Horizon 2 had the best bucket list system. Horizon 3 had a decent system but I liked the different lists available in 2. It felt a lot more immersive. Then it changed to businesses in Horizon 4 which just feels really shallow, as if the only reason for it to exist is for it to exist. With the bucket lists they actually felt like they had a purpose.

Imo Forza Horizon 6 needs a lot of forest roads and mountain-ey roads. FH5's roads are so open, its so flat. My vision of great driving roads is the portion around the speed trap as you get up the volcano in FH5 .
