I have a ‘03 CVPI, got it at the end of September and it has 94,200 miles on it, and i love it! Past owner only put a few hundred miles on it and got it from a friend who got it from an auction. Past owner put brand new tires and breaks all around it. It’s good on gas, $25 will fill it up from half to full. I have not experienced any over-heating problems or transmission problems, so I definitely didn’t get a lemon. My car definitely needs a paint job, parts of the paint need to be redone. The CVPI was used as a Flemington NJ cop car, so transfering title and registration to Pa was not cheap but worth it!

Bought a clean white 2010 P71 Vic with 147,580 Miles from a dealership. I got it for my job as a security patrol officer. I also drive it as a backup car whenever my personal primary car is in the shop. I’m not too thrilled about the special, expensive and hard to find tires. Got me dreading the day when I have to replace them. The car has the hard take ‘em to jail back seat and holes for right and left hand spotlights. It also has small holes near the bottom of both rear doors. I’m not sure what the department had installed there and no they are not bullet holes.

Servicing the trans at suggested intervals will prevent a lot of the problems. I buy and flip retired crown vic's. Most of my buyers are 18 to 25 yrs. old. They are a full size 4 door sports car. The most common problems I run into are coil over plug units going bad. Check engine light comes on, and engine misses/runs rough. Super easy fix for about $50. Second is fuel pumps prone to go bad. Since ford mounts the fuel tank on its side, again, really easy fix. Did one on the side of the freeway in about 30 mins. cost aprox. $80.

My 2003 works great, I love it. Gets good mileage for a full size car, handles well and has some decent power. The radio is simple but that is fine for me, if I wanted something fancier I could just buy a better radio. Oh, and about the tires...which have lasted a very long time, mine are down to the wear indicator bars. These are heavy duty tires, I don't remember exactly but I think they have about SIX plies if not more! They are designed for high speed driving and driving over and through things most people will never have to. Such as going over curbs, rocks and other obstacles that are in the road or off of it.... I am going to look for new regular ones, since I don't need special tires they are easy to find...

The column shifter and no center console is so the cops can put all of their radios and gear in them. Also, yes, the Goodyear RSA's are pricey. But, you can get them just about anywhere. You also don't necessarily need to get the RSA's. They make better tires for cheaper. But, that is what ALL of them came with.

Another reason to stay away from 03-05 years... the paint absolutely sucks from the factory. That's why you see them with paint peeling all off of those years. Hey I am trying to get a German Shepherd and a K9 equipped 2011 Crown Victoria (not at the same time though) But I have several things to ask ya. 1. are there speakers in the back seat? 2. does the metal-clunking sound bother you a lot? 3. (most important of all) Does it smell inside the car?
@MrRandomReviews8 жыл бұрын
ok #1 yes the speakers are still in the back #2 the cage fits in really tight so there isnt much sounds only when the dog wags its tail and it hits the cage sometimes or when she moves around but you get used to those noises #3 at the end of every day i sweep the cage and i keep some odor spray in the car but to be honest with you i get used to the smell and i cant notice anymore i really love dogs and if you work with them you will ALWAYS be covered in dog hair and slobber it comes with the job...hope this helps

next time look for better equipped Crown Vic. Interceptor. There are models equipped with cruise control, cd/mp3 player, side airbags came out standard in 09, even a full seat 50/50 I believe is called which included flip up down armrests and seats 6 since it has lap belt and front center seating. I bought an 09 p71 which I believe is called admin version, mine is beige. It still has the spot lamp and dome light. And you're right about the transmission issues but it's not crown vic specific. It affects other models with same engines is commonly referred as "transmission shudder".

I feel like the Crown Vic would be an awesome fit for my kind of driving. It's big, it's weird, stigmatized, seemingly bulletproof and loaded with quirks. The steering column automatic gearshift is pretty much second nature to me since almost every vehicle I've driven has been that sort of configuration, and just feels more natural as well. I think at some point if I ever find a Crown Vic for dirt cheap, which most are anyway, I would definitely go for it. I've been on the fence about them for a while but I feel like I should drive one one day just to see what it is I'm actually missing out on.

Why do you have to buy that specific tire for the car? I would think any tire that is the same size would be appropriate to use
@johnerikson70948 жыл бұрын
Austin Murphy being a cop car, I'm sure that you need a certain tire because of how it's going at pretty high speeds during emergency calls and chases, which may cause a normal tire to wear down. Don't quote me on it though, I'm don't know much about cars, so I'm just guessing. I'm sure I'm wrong, but again, I know nothing about cars.
@kilppa7 жыл бұрын
That still makes no sense if a civilian buys it and also, tires are always speed rated and for the speeds these can achieve, it's very easy to find suitable tires anyways. I don't get what the tire issue could possibly be.

In my '98 and I think a couple years prior and a couple years after there was a problem with leaks in the coolant reservoir and it would throw coolant all over the heater coils and short them out, I replaced about 3 heater coils at $60 a piece until I recognized the coolant was seeping below the coils and fucking up the spark plugs. So I'd be riding on 7 or sometimes 6 cylinders. Anyways I replaced the thin piece of shit plastic coolant reservoir with an aluminum one, replaced all the plugs, replaced the heater coils that were shot and it was gravy, until 2 weeks later when some drunk asshole t-boned me. I loved that car even while I was having issues, and I really loved it after I fixed it all, got to enjoy it for a whole 2 weeks. Jesse Warren he's impersonating an officer. He has a private business with a self trained drug dog. Probably blows bong rips in her face every night while he snorts lines of blow of the coffee table. Lmfao

German shepards, labs and a few other breeds are perfect for police dogs. They need to do a great immobilizing bite, but not actually tear the flesh off a human being, which is tricky to train for.
