The first one, you don't need to undo the union, there is a setting in the properties that says "UsePartColor" something like that, enable it so you can change the color

Oh you activated Windows :o Congrats! and yes at 6:58 there is an error (sometimes called “-15” or “-13” which can appear simply randomly if the limit has not been reached (but is close to it) and needs open another studio for make a solid model) yes... roblox is not optimized for solid models.

I highly disagree with the "high-poly count" model, because rule of thumb: NEVER use excessive topology on any 3D realtime-rendering, in any game engine, or development frameworks. 3D models of characters for instance, should never exceed around 3.5k tris. This is the very mistake "Garten of Ban Ban" suffers, and if you were a 3D modeller, you would be fired instantly if you hand this to your employers.

I completely agree with you. In the video, even at a close distance, there's a bunch of triangles smaller than a pixel - meaning you won't even be able to see the full quality of the model anyways - meaning it's completely unnecessary.

you know you can toggle in the spot lights if you want shadows on or off, its gonna emmit the shadow from the light if that makes sense. And maybe set the games lighting to "Future"..

Unions have a property that let's you set the colour of the entire union to 1 colour, someone already said this so i won't say any more about it. I don't know why you can't union custom meshes but the reasons has to be they're not on the client, custom meshes can be updated at all times and there's probably more. This doesn't bother me at all but i could get why others whould be. I never have any problems with decals, if you use unions, then squash it before baking while if it's a mesh, you can do that or make the texture in the modeling software. The way textures works on Roblox is the engine calculates the angle of the triangle and it determines if it's facing the top, bottom, left, right, front or back relative to the 'box' that is containing the object. The one afterwards never happened to me, i see you have 'Join Surfaces' on, i whould leave this off except when you are doing models that works with physics. To align objects, use increments, there's a plugin that could help you, ResizeAlign. As for lighting, Compatibility works by setting invisible cubes arround your camera and when there's a light source in that range, the cubes found inside of the range of the light source will make parts touching it light up the colour of the light source, in basic term it's a voxel system that determines the colour of a triangle. Voxel is pretty much the same as Compatibility but it's less performant but more vibrant. ShadowMap is pretty much Voxel but the moon and sun projects rays that casts shadows, these shadows can be disabled. Future lighting is a whole different system, it casts rays from light sources, since it's a different system, you can't just convert your light technology and call it a day. Making every neon parts automatically create a light source whould be a problem more than anything since neon parts are not always used for lights. Whould be nice to have the function to select vertices but with editable meshes, you can make custom meshes in studio, the only thing we need is a plugin that let's you do editable meshes without coding every vertices's offset and connection. I think the reason why they put the limit of triangles 1000 is so the models doesn't take the entirety of their servers, not an issue for games but is for actual simulators and showcases. I don't see a problem for most of these but i will agree on the last one.

Hello friend, I just wanted to help you with some of these things, I'll talk about the ones I know, so the 4th topic, when you want to paste the position of a piece into another piece, use CFrame instead of Origin, Origin will get the base plate, while CFrame will get the Current Frame (current position) of the part, so it will work correctly that way, and the 5th one I believe has an option for that, I don't know if it's a beta feature, because I I have it in my studio and I don't remember turning it on, but there's probably something to do in the model tab under the motion option, 6/7° and the light stuff, they actually have a property called shadows, turn that on if If you don't want them to go through walls, this will also make your buildings look more realistic (remember to increase the studio quality, around level 16), which will also make the parts affected by the light cast shadows , 9th I think the best way to get around this will be to leave your model with fewer polygons, I know this will lose some quality, but it will help with the memory of your game and other players who may play, imagine having a single chair with 1000 polygons every time you enter a room, that would be very slow, wouldn't it?, hope i helped

For the last one, you can import the mesh using the roblox 3d importer its a the beta feature so you jus have to turn it on. The tri limit is way higher so you can basically import anything

When it comes to recoloring unions a simple fix I found was using a old building tool called F3x, which has a plugin in studio. It allows you to color unions, which is odd that such an old tool can outperform studio in this remark. Still annoying though.

All of these cant happen if you know how to build. I've noticed that in your speed builds you just eyeball everything. To make builds correctly you need to use a ton of math to get everything right. Thats why people pay, builders use math in 3D, reduce lag, organize models and more.

4:06 This I don't seem as a problem when I build. If I want to make something leveled exactly the same, I use a plugin called "Resize Align" which makes a face of the part be exactly the same size as another face of the part.

Yes, ROBLOX Studio does indeed have imperfections - many. I get your point there with the meshes unioning, but you may not completely understand the difficulty of things. It's very normal though (I'm no expert in this area, too, btw!). But it's kind of like rocket science. From a normal person; "Just strap some engines on the bottom, fuel them up and launch, how hard can it be?", while in reality it's not that simple at all. And ROBLOX Studio is more than a mesh engine. Hope this helped! 👍

Lol i relate so much with the struggles of rblx studio. So many things that rblx could and should do to make building simpler to use like most 3d building program. 8 is so valid, I use Rhino and its basically like Blender but just as crazy for like architects. You can move, scale, rotate vertices, surfaces, and nodes of the cube, but roblox just lacks that creative outlet. I find it limiting but whatever. The triangle limit is somewhat valid, but I too have grunges with it when I am importing my curvey geometries and then it tells me to go back and reduce it even more. Again, pretty limiting for artists and gears Roblox to aim for a simpler geometric form, which lowkey sucks. I think it’s a memory problem with games that have big poly counts? Idk.. I think if you toggle shadows under spotlight it will get rid of that “light penetrating through wall” effect. I have a complaint that when I’m using spotlights only, with future technology, it doesn’t light the ceiling. like it’s a dark ceiling but everywhere else is fine. It’s so stupid because thats not how light works in the real world. Sure you could change the angle to 180 on how the light spreads but that doesn’t help either, because at that point the light wont make it to the floor. So I see most builders and myself using point lights to solve the issue. Unless I am missing out on a more obvious solution to this lol.

Can you make a tutorial on how too make a loft room, like the ones in new york with click detectors and those stuff, one like theres a room with a pc setup, a tv and a couch, and there is a ladder too go too the top floor of the room too get too the bed, not a floor like a house floor, a bed with a bed side table and guard rails, make it free or paid, u can do whatever u want

The 8th issue there, about the vertex selection: Are you expecting ROBLOX to implement blender into ROBLOX Studio? Of course they are going to take the solution that is literally a million times easier, and that everybody likes more anyways, and just make the user able to use their favourite 3D modelling program and then import it.

2:24 technically 4 axis render wise 2:50 engine not ready for it, and nobody really needs that anymore since editable images coming out 3:15, you likely have weld also you have join surfaces toggled 3:50 teleport it in the middle and and move it up untill it not alighnes but I wouldn't recommend anyways because waste of polygons. You are too new to even have opinions lmaooo
